Hello fellow TW's...i've searched around but haven't found anything
    on this.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to lube or remove the window motor/gear assembly?
    Passenger side?

I've taken the door panel off and tried to access the mechanism,
but i cant see how to remove the assembly from the door.

There is the larger opening below where the armrest would be,
but i can't even get my hand up in there to get to the assembly.

There is a grinding sound when the window is going down...
sounds funky going up too, but not as bad. I tried a long skinny stick
with a Q-tip taped to it to try to add some lubricant and
i was able to get some on the big metal gear,
    but still have the grind?

I believe the motor gear is plastic, so i was hoping to align
them better or see if there is some junk on the gear teeth that is
causing the grind....and possibly re lube the plastic gear?
I'm thinking the plastic gear and the metal gear is a bad idea and
    they are not meshing correctly.

This little project is looking more and more like a dealershite visit.

Somebody on here had a thread about the window motor some time ago, but i can't find it.
any help or better ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks much,
    PC

My apologies- I couldn't get the entire procedure to copy & paste from our program.
What you want to do is unbolt the window and either pull it out or push it all the way up in the window run & tape it in place so it stays. Roll the regulator down until "X" is all stacked together. Unbolt the whole works (there are also bolts on the arm that's on the bottom of the X- look for them) and pull it out the biggest access hole in the door shell.
    Hope this helps!

Every once in a while, mine will make a grinding noise....but it hasn't failed me yet. (knocking on wood)

What are you going to change? Curious to hear the results.

    J,

I'm not sure at this point...i need to take the assy. out and
see if the nylon gear is mush or if there is an alignment
issue...if the motor, then i will replace that, if an alignment
issue, going with the lithium lube and see where the noise is coming from.

either way, i need to do something as mine as gotten way worse
lately, and it's almost to the point that it sounds like it will fail.
With my luck, it will fail with the window down.

I will update what i find this weekend i hope.
I also need to get the PN for the motor if that is the issue,
which based on what i'm hearing and what Vance said,
pretty sure the nylon gear is toast.

    Quick update.

Thanks again to WHPLSH3, i was able to get this assembly removed
from the door...hardest part was keeping away from the black goo
that holds the vapor barrier on...man, that stuff is nasty!
...cleans up pretty well with WD-40 though.

So i removed the X-assy, disconnected the motor from the X assy.
and just powered up the motor...the grind is coming from
    the motor.
I tried to lube up various parts and it was some better but
the motor needs to be replaced as the grind is still there.

I've found a couple on *bay like this, but does anyone know
of a better source for this part?
The bay dude wants $140.00 for the darn thing?

Called the dealer and i guess they call the motor a regulator?
see Item 8 in WHPLSH3's drawing?...is this part Toyo PN 06801-35100?

    Thanks.

    Hi Folks,

Finally around to fixing this window thing and thought i'd pass
    along what i did.

First the problem was definitely the motor. I bought a reman'd one from
RockAuto...PN47-10014.... Right (Passenger) side window lift
for about $90.00 after core return.

You'll need a 10mm socket to remove the window fasteners and
the regulator/motor assembly from the door through
    the largest access hole.

You'll need a T25 Torx bit to remove the motor from
    the regulator (window lift apparatus).

The instructions that came with the motor part were quite good,
so if you have any grinding when lifting or lowering your window,
you should be able to make this work as it will be the motor that
    failed.

...taping the window in the run was the best tip for this job.

I also removed the speaker (also 10mm) from the door to make access
to the front window fastener a little easier....there is a little
hole in the door that matches up with where that fastener is
located, but it's kinda tight and easier to reach your hand into the
    vacant speaker hole.

After i removed the old motor and replaced with the new one,
i made sure the regulator had enough lithium grease in the runs and
on the x-lift apparatus while i was in there. Got it all back together
and reconnected the power harness to the motor
    and voila!...no grinding noise.

As i mentioned earlier, taking the vapor barrier off was (to me) the
stickiest (literally) part of the job. I didn't remove the
whole thing, i just lifted it up off the large access hole plate
and rolled it up and taped it in place. I cut little x holes
in the vapor barrier to allow access to the regulator/motor assembly
    fasteners.

I was able to reuse the black goo that keeps the vapor barrier in place
but i also taped the barrier down at the corners just in case.
WD-40 does a good job of cleaning that goo off if you get it on other
    stuff.

Thanks again to WHPLSH3 for the initial tips...those made this job
pretty easy actually. I hope this off-shore part will last longer than
the 4 year old OEM part that got very little usage btw.

Now if i could just fix that funky rubbery smell in the door i'd be good to go.
