8asu8aqa_98965ed7c24c31adc12eefe3390442a61ecab62d.jpgThis morning I went to clean the throttle body on my 07' V6 Tacoma (137k miles) and I found this stuff on the side of the butterfly that faces away from the MAF sensor. I had probably only gone between 6k and 10k miles since the last time I cleaned it. What gives? I know that some residue is normal, and I'm pretty good about keeping the it clean, but this struck me as unusual. The substance felt sticky and "tar like". Anyone ever had this show up? Not sure if the pictures came through successfully but any input would be appreciated :)

Ha ha I'm not running an oiled air filter. I'm using an AFE reusable air filter and my secondary filter is still on there, the crud seems to be coming from the other side, I guess the side of the throttle body opposite the air filter. So whatever this is it seems to be coming from within the engine :-\

Ha ha, I guess that's what I'm trying to figure, whether it's anal or not. Don't think it's normal though.

Normal engine blow by, maybe a new pcv valve could help or an oil catch can system
