Had a few faded white specs on my 05 DC and while trying to get them off tried goo gone thinking it was glue. The goo gone ended stripping the piant off the dash!

I always assumed the dash was monolithic. The rest of the day was taking the dash a part and repainting the damage with vinyl paint.

Ill always be able to notice, but managed to fix the dash so nobody else would.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Any idea what goo gone has in it that did this?

I don't know what in Goo-Gone in particular that stripped your dash but you generally only want to use the weakest solvent that you can that will still get the job done. I really try to stay away from harsh solvents and cleaners just because of this. There were a couple other cases were people have scratched their dashes, not sure how they were repaired but I'm sure they could be painted. There are some interior paints but you'd probably have to paint the whole dash, a patch would likely always be seen.

People can spray your interior plastic and make them look like new. I think it's a bit pricey though. Especially if it something on your dash.

I probably just got lucky and found a good paint match. It was a crazy day of multiple auto zone trips, but I got a vinyl primer and got a flat black vinyl and fabric spray that matches. I can see it if I look, but if your not looking you really can't.
