click on the first link I provided on the first page of this thread. it is the end of the rocky road that I just traveled and you are apparently on.

trust me, this is the easiest way. it sucks to do a boot job and then lose all your grease because you don't have the right clamps

That spring touching the ball joint and spindle thing is messed up.

Sounds like you have other fish to fry with getting the CV fixed. But when you're ready to take on the other issue, put up a new thread with more photos showing how the suspension is assembled: LR caster setting, LR camber setting, how the spring perch is assembled.

How do you have the LR adjusted? There are 5 positions:

    "Neutral" which is +2 Caster
-1 which is still +1 Caster (this is how I have mine set)
-2 which is at factory 0 Cater
Then we get into the LR "+" settings
+1 which is +3 Caster from factory
+2 which is +4 Caster from factory

I wonder if you're using one of the "+" settings? +1 or +2?

There's a LOT of camber adjustment in that LR as well. I might venture a guess that you've got the camber fully inboard, or close to it? Whereas mine is set up nearly fully outboard.

In short - I wonder if your "factory" alignment eccentric cam adjustments are adjusted in opposition (fighting with) your LR adjustment options. All that adjustment gives an alignment tech a LOT of rope to hang himself with, and a lot of times, the only thing that tech is looking at is the numbers that show up on the machine.

Finally, every now and again someone will assemble 5100 shocks with the spring perch upside down, getting considerably more lift than intended. I wonder if that might be a possible cause.
