As I said in a earlier post, I triex greasing only the lower bearing due to the fan being stuck on the shaft. 2 days later it is squealing again, so will have to take appart completely and grease everything

Yeah strangely enough my dealer had the motor in stock...I wondered if someone else had ordered it and just not come in for it.

I just purchased a 2011 dcsb or. First few days, I could hear nothing, now I can hear the whine on low, and the second notch.
From what I can gather, there was a tsb for this at one point. Does this still include the 2011, or am I better off taking care of it on my own?

I've had the flutter noise on low speed fan since ~5k mi new. Dealer claimed it's normal. sigh
Service writer at least was smart enough to state that replacing it wouldnt fix it, heh.

Specs: 2010 Toyota Tacoma bought 06/10. Crickets made their home December of 2010 with approx. 6,500 miles on odometer.

Dealer was not too helpful so I've been fighting with Toyota Customer Service for over a month now. As of this week, they tried telling me this is a new problem and they're trying to redesign the blower.

I find this troubling as I had a 2001 Tacoma that began chirping around 85,000 miles. I thought it was just leaves; and as such, ignored it. My 2010 has become EXTREMELY noisy in EVERY fan speed position.

Part is slated to come in 3/03/11. Curious to know what part number it is now. Maybe 4043??? ;)

Thanks for all your posts...especially the fixes.
This is what forums excel at!

Yes....I had my 2011 in for the same thing and they ordered the new assembly. Now the problem like others is, the back order. I will let them fix it. I am not paying anything to fix a factory problem.;)

31 days have passed since they ordered the part and its still on backorder.

Each day that passes gets me closer to fixing it myself. I don't like fixing factory parts either but, at some point, quality of life plays a part.

I can no longer muffle the chirp with the radio.

Had no problem with the blower motor on my wife's 2005 Tacoma. Had to replace the resistor though. Took her 2011 Double Cab in for warranty work this morning. The assistant service manager was the one who wrote up the work order and said, " By the way, I'm ordering a new blower motor for you. Yours is making noise... a design flaw and there is a two month wait on the revised motor." I rarely drive the truck and didn't notice the problem. Guess I had better turn down the "tunes" a bit. Maybe turn them up until the new motor arrives. :D

I very much appreciate the service manager catching this.

    Tom
