took mine in yesterday for the 10k service and to check out the chirp. told needed to be diagnosed by a tech before they replaced it. on the way in, i couldn't get the chirp to sound, thus thinkin they may not do it. the service manager was cool though, and loved what i had done to my truck, so when i picked it up, he stated they didn't hear a chirp either, but replaced it anyway (#87103-04043):)

I dropped my truck off this morning with an appointment to replace the ticking blower motor. He called an hour later and told me was unable to duplicate the problem. A complete waste of a half-day.

Got 'er done. I was driving by the dealership last Tuesday and the tick was at full throat so I whipped in, left her running, went into the service department and had the service tech listen to it. He smiled and said, "no problem, wait here." 2 minutes later he returns with the brand new blower assemply, tells me the truck will be ready in a few hours and has his shuttle driver take me right to the office. Works perfectly quiet now.

So, my second Tyc from Amazon shit the bed. Starting running slow on setting 1 then smelling like it was burning if I turned it up to 3 or 4. I was very close to ordering the newest OEM blower, but I'm not convinced Toyota or their sub has fixed it.

Instead, I pulled my old OEM fan out of storage and applied two of the fixes from this thread: I oiled the felt washer at the bottom and put a drop on the bushing at the top, then I filed the sharp corners off the brushes. I put it back in and it's been quiet for I think 2 weeks now.

I do NOT recommend the Tyc. There are other reviews on Amazon now that have the exact same complaint.

Seems to be a common problem, last oil change I mention the problem and it was fixed at no charge. you'd think they could come up with a better bushing or bearing whatever their using.

When last year? And what part did they install? The new motor is #87103-04043 and is lest than a year old. I haven't seen any complaints on this one yet to my knowledge.

I took mine apart in september? to fix that squeaking chipmunk. Thoroughly cleaned and lubed with m1 5w20 (all I had sitting around). It's been silent ever since.

I figure if I perform the maintenance once a year, I'll (hopefully) never have to buy another one.
