Good evening. I found a good deal on a Leer 100XQ for my '11 DCSB. Pretty stoked about it, but wanted to ask those who have purchased campers that were not the same color as your truck what you paid to have it color matched. I've got the MGM - the shell is black.

Also, is there anyone who has the MGM Taco w/ a black camper shell who could post up some pics? While I definitely want to get it color matched, I don't think it would be entirely painful to the eyes for a black shell on an MGM Taco.

    Thanks all...

I have a MGM shell on a white truck. And Would also like to know. But it looks alright too me. Kinda think if I did the fender flares MGM it would look pretty good

Call me cheap but maaco did one for me for $150. I'm happy, they're happy.

$150 sounds awesome, but I want a paint job that will last the duration of the life of the track. Does their $150 paint job give you that?

I had camper tops painted in the past, I removed the side windows and the front slider before I took them to a paint/body shop and reinstalled the windows myself. The paint held up really good for the entire time I owned the trucks they were on. I think I paid $250 to have them painted. Remember you get what you pay for when it comes to paint and body work. Another thing to point out, your starting out with a black base on your camper top so your top coat/color of your truck may be darker in the end.

I'm not that big a stickler that I'd require an EXACT paint match. If it's close, I'm fine with it. $250? I could live with that...

Just had mine repainted to fix a bad job done by the previous owner. $325.00 for a color match using the paint code on the truck.

I was looking at used shells that might not have been color matched. it ranged from about 200 at maco to 500 from a shop I would actually trust to paint something.

I decided to just go the new route, used shells are in short supply and by the time I bought a used one in decent shape $400-500 + colormatching I was close enough to the price of a bran new one that I just went that route.

And I would normally agree. However, the shell I'm looking at is the Leer 100XQ, which the guy has agreed to drop to $500. The shell, currently black, is described as being in excellent condition. If I choose to paint it, I figure it would run me in the neighborhood of $400. That comes to $900 invested for a shell that sells new for just over $2K. It's a deal too good to let pass by...

I sold it before it had a chance to fade so I will never know how it held up but I was happy enough. Even if I had to do it again, i thought it was a value. As you can see though, you can do it for a bit more and likely get a good deal
