Can I change a chrome SR5 grille for a white sport grille?

OK, I was in a minor accident and my grill needs to be replaced. I want the white sport grille but the guy at the body shop keeps telling me they don't make it for my vin number and a sport grille will not fit... I really don't see why it wont fit if it is from the same year, and now he says the paint wont match... is this true or is he making excuses?? He also says it is a special order and cannot be returned ...

I called 3 dealerships and they said they need my vin but it shouldnt be an issue... So who is telling me the truth.

 

yes you can as long as its not from a new one.

 

Yes, a pre-painted grille from the Toy maker is a direct replacement. Paint match a non-issue. Guy at bodyshop sounds like he's ready to leave the trade

 

This and you should look up Homertaco. He does awesome color matched grills on here.

 

Or buy a OEM colormatch from camelback toyota, they are a vendor on here. It will fit and it is very easy to swap out yourself.

 

I recently had to have my chrome grill replaced on my '13 for making a whistling sound. I told them if I could have a white one and they gave me the excuse of it having to be the same one. A few weeks later I ordered a white grill from another dealership and it fit perfectly.

 

That bodyshop douche should find another line of work, yes it will be a drop in replacement. All the grills are the same, no matter chrome or color matched or base model.

Yeah I am not too happy with his work so far, the paint he got is not matching at all.... Problem is he has been paid now I am trying to make him make it right..

The Camelback toyota here is the one who told him it would not work... Maybe I need to call again and find out whats up...

 

Thats strange, even if you dont use camelback you should PM jorge@CBTparts and let him know that happened. He has sold tons of colormatch grills on this site

 

I will PM him anyway to see if he can get us a grille, Lisa was the woman the bodyguy talked too but he may have given her the wrong info..
