I want to mount my iPhone in my truck some how and I want to see what others have done and go from there on how I go about doing it.

Motorola car cradle for Droid Bionic. Charges, and when docked, the phone autodetects the port and enters vehicle mode, providing larger basic buttons for calls and navigation, and enabling smart actions like responding to texts or other messages with "Driving, will call back" etc.

Link for the Mount You will have to do some adjusting to it to make it fit but it works great.

I originally had my note where the garmin is. I had a OtterBox Defender and it came with a belt clip. It attached perfectly to my old Garmin windshield mount and I used it for a few months. But... I just got tired of the "bulk" of the defender case and bought the new garmin and mounted the phone where it is now. I like it better there because it is right at my fingertips.
