I have a 2006 4 door Tacoma. I just got a undercover classic bed cover installed. Up by the front of the truck by the bulkhead there are gaps and when it rains I get water in the bed of my truck. The people where I got it installed told me it was normal for tacomas to leak water with this bed cover. Also at the back by the tailgate there is a big gap between the tailgate and the cover. They said that was also normal. If anyone who has had or has this bed cover can shed some light on this for me that would be great. Here are some pics.

The two pictures that I have posted are from the 11' Double cab that I use to own. I never had any gaps in it what's so ever when it was installed. They installed(your installer) it wrong. It's not lining up properly. That is not normal. No water should be coming in at all.

From the pictures that you had showed, it looks like they need to push it forward more towards the back window. The back of the Tonneau should sit flush with the tailgate. It should only stick over a little(just the lip of the tonneau), not to the effect that yours does. Yours needs to be reinstalled by the same company. If you don't want to go back then just do it yourself, the tonneau cover isn't very heavy. You and a friend can do it in under 30 minutes.

^This. I have one for my '08 and no leak problems. Have had it for a couple of years..but right now it's in the garage because I need the space. Good stuff!

see thats the thing. The guy there told me he has seen it sit like that before on a tacoma. But it just did not look right to me. The next question is do you think it would just be easier for me to reinstall it myself because I went back 2 times and they told me the same thing.

If you have already gone back and they said "it was fine" then I wouldn't go back. A buddy of mine got his on his Ranger before I got mine. I knew what I was looking for before I got it. If I were you, I'd just do it myself. It's not hard. Just read the manual link that I gave you. I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't go back to the business.

Take out the bed cleats. Undo the shocks from the tonneau. Just go step by step through the manual.

I have the same cover, snap off off the lifter cylinders at the cover side and then set the cover back down. Slide into your bed and loosen both brackets (two bolts each side). Get back out and push your cover forward until it stops. Slide back in and tighten both bolts on each bracket. You should have a little gap between the cover and the tailgate otherwise lifting the cover on and off becomes a pain and you will possibly scratch your cab so a gap about the size of your finger works. My cover leaks a little at the car wash but only because it's high pressure from the side.

I went back and looked at your pictures again. If you look you can see that the bed cleats are sitting on/under the tonneau cover. It should go in the space under the tonneau cover. The edge/lip of the tonneau cover should go over the bed, not sit on top. Once you get it all readjusted then it shouldn't leak.

For sure that too. You can't use the tie downs with the Undercover...

If you look at the one picture that I posted the bed cleats should fit under the tonneau. You should be able to use them. The TC doesn't sit on the bed rails. It's not like a folding TC that sits on the bed rails. If it was a TC that had to sit on the bed rails then you couldn't use them. Mine was on a 11' not sure if it's possible with an 06'.

I have a 2012 and the cleats do not fit under the Undercover in any position

From pre 12'(2005-2011) they will fit. For the 12' and 13' models it could have changed.

Let me re-phrase that, they do not fit from the shock mounts rearward because the shocks hit the cleats and the cover will not close. I want to say they wouldn't in front either because of the height but it's been a year since I messed with them.

Well I decided to go out and fix it myself. Iwent back one more time and they still told me the same thing and would not fix anything because they said there is nothing to fix. I'm not sure if it should go back more to the bulkhead. The only thing is I still have a little gap on each corner. Here are the after pics.

My gap at the tailgate is about finger size, also the farther you move it forward, the closer the metal rings are to your cab and they will scratch it! Yours looks pretty close. I think your cleats are also smaller than mine, I rechecked when I got home and my my cover hits the cleats when trying to close. I like my cover but I wouldn't say it is 100% sealed either...

The main source for leaks is along the front edge, since there is an overlap on the sides and tailgate. The weatherstripping has a gap where the sides and front panel meet - you can see it in the pics.

I'd push the top as far forward as it will go (the rings shouldn't hit the cab) and then add some weatherstripping in those corners. Also make sure that the exterior weatherstripping is pulled out over the lip of the front panel.

Mine is not 100% watertight, but outside of the power car wash it's dry.

That looks a lot better. You should go back to the business and show them how its done right.
