    ^ This.

Every hunting season my diff fluids would look terrible. I did a check on my diff oils and ATF after I re-ran my breathers into a two way filter style breathers and it stays clean now.

Did this mod yesterday, I like it much more than looking at the vent whenever I'm refueling. ;)

Just finished doing this mod. After reading through others, I liked the behind the tail light location the best.

Oh... the size of the insulated clamps are 5/8. I used two of them just like the OP.

Thanks for the write up! Install went very smooth.

Did mine a few months ago, and haven't had an issue with it at all.

And I have done some decent water crossings since then...

My first mod. Thanks OP! I used 7' of hose. I didn't use the clamp on the axle. I ziptied the line to the wiring harness on either side of the push-in connector at the frame rail. Then I twisted the hose on the union a turn or so to make a coil in the line and tightened the clamp. This way it doesn't slap around and leaves plenty of slack for droop.

Finally got my parts from Toyota! OP says hose size is 5/16? I've heard like 3 different hose sizes... is there one that's the best, or were people using different parts? I was planning on getting some pressure tubing from Lowes.

i used 5/16th since the seal at the axle is more important than the seal at the top. the axle union is 5/16th" i also reverse installed, meaning I started at the tail light and worked down.. did the same mod using same parts on previous '05 Titan.

Reverse install kinda sounds like it'd make more sense. Appreciate it.

it does. at 7 feet I had nothing to trim. Starting at axle you might end up short. no bueno.

My only concern with using the factory breather cap is it is a one way valve. It allows excess pressure out but not air in... which is a good thing for the most part.

BUT when you have a hot axle and dunk it in water the air cools off contracting.... air is not allowed in through the breather, and the only other way to make the difference is to suck in through the pinion and axle seals... which results in water entry.

Run an open breather element (like a crank case breather) and this mod will be even better.

Yep - parts look the same, but the breather doesn't have the check valve.
