Just cracked my windshield for the first time. Now I need a new windshield. I only want OE/OEM new or used. Does anyone know where I can find one relatively cheap? I'm in central California.

Safelite? Or just google windshield replacement and your zip code...something local will come up...

Idk about cost or anything...here in Florida, my insurance would take care of it for free...prob not something you wanna do yourself. I assume it'd be hard to get the windshield in place and adhered properly.

My windshield cracked also. I'm not replacing it. It's on the passenger side. The only good thing in NJ, it won't fail inspection.

    Welcome.

To me, if it's not in your line of vision I wouldn't fix it. When you do go and get a new windshield, ask around. I found out that Speedy Auto Glass uses the same glass as what the Dealerships use. The only two difference is that they don't have the OEM sticker on it, and it doesn't come with the dealer cost. This is in Canada, I am not sure if you have Speedy Auto Glass where you live.

I got whacked by a rock on my way through Eastern Oregon last month. In almost 20 years of driving it was my first broken windshield.

I'm not in the same boat as the OP as I am not too concerned with having the little Toyota Emblem on there. My insurance has a high glass deductible so I will be paying this out of pocket. It sucks though!

When i got a quote from Speedy Auto Glass, they wanted $450CDN for the windshield and the labour. That was pretty cheap as far as I was concerned. The last 3 new cars I've bought over the years didn't even last 3 months and they had cracks from rocks. I wasn't too impressed.

I need a new windshield too. I've got a crack that goes from top to bottom :D

I've received 2 quotes from shops that use "Pilkington" brand windhsields.

    quote 1: $230
    quote 2: $200

Safelite replaced mine when it cracked. Since I live in Florida, it was also free. However they gave me the bill, which was $256.

You are lucky, I had about a 6inch crack with a couple a smaller ones coming from it. It was on the passenger side near the top. It in no way hindered my line of sight but it failed the inspection.

Here in Maine they don't use sand on the road in winter they use rocks two in my 97 Taco one in the 2011 3 in the VW one in the Scion and that's just 5 years worth. Most of the aftermarket glass outfits put in Chinese glass if you want OEM demand it also the tinting varies a lot make sure it's what you want. By the way if it's a little crack just wait it will get bigger.

I've got to get mine changed.... damn truckers driving around, throwing rocks at people, because they mudflaps aren't long enough!! :(

I've got one crack, which goes from one side of my windshield to the other, and 2 small "stars" as well! I've been procrastinating to call insurance and see what the deal is with my glass coverage.... should get on that! :D
