ok, been reviewing 2-3" lifts and having a tough time settling on one but I've also heard a lot of discussion about driveline vibrations. One thing I really don't want is to spend all this time and money putting on a lift only to get a vibration issue that becomes a huge problem to solve.....So just wondering on all of the people that have put on lifts how many have had driveline vibration problems and how many of them were easily solved, (diff drop, etc)....Sorry if this was asked before but on all of my lurking on here I haven't seen a post or poll on this.......thanks for the responses....

After my 09 Dblcab Offroad got the TSB for the leafs i had a small vibe breaking around 10-15 mph. I have since upgraded all shocks....Billies on all four set at 1.75 and now rides level and perfect.......no vibes.

toytec lift. slight drive line shudder on take off.

and it doesnt matter which lift you get. the tacoma is sensitive to suspension modifications. for example, it doesnt matter who makes the add-a-leaf, lifting the rear 2" in that manner changes the drive line angles and can cause vibrations. also, each truck responds differently to lifts; some get vibes after a lift and some dont.

Front lift, ride rite air bags, side steps, rear camera switch.
The amount of angle applied to a drive shaft with a 3" lift, is very insignificant. If that was the case, our trucks would vibrate every time we would pass thru potholes and railroads, where the rear differential angle changes even more.

it is significant. thats why these trucks can get vibrations from lifting them. increasing the drive line angle by 3 degrees may not seem like much, but it is enough to cause vibrations. also, some lifts (blocks) can cause more axle wrap which causes even more of a drive line angle.

EDIT: the increased angle on the carrier bearing can also cause vibrations. it doesnt take much:

ya, but most likely, it will be so minor that you wont care. i enjoy the lift and big tires much more than the slight shudder might annoy me :)

Check out the links in my signature... a bunch of people with OME lifts have commented on whether or not they have drive line vibes.

I had installed the Toytec AAL about 400 miles ago. I felt a vibration between 10-20mph.

Brought it to a suspension shop and they crawled under it, zipped the U Bolts with a pneumatic gun, and I drove off 1 minute later with all vibration gone.

But what worked for me probably won't work for everyone.
