What is it, does it happen to every Taco, and once fixed is it a recurring issue?

    Thanks!

It's the tilt of the head to accurately bite a taco without spillage. It happens on tacos that are overstuffed. Learn to not overstuff and the issue will not occur again :D

With the driver seat, the gas tank, and battery on the left side-Tends to be a little lower on that side.

You can redistribute weight, put extra lift on the left, or ignore it. As far as it coming back - Springs will sag, but should do so at the same rate-more or less- but there might be tweaks down the road.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I'm just going to crank my coil-over a few turns extra on the driver side to correct.

Taco lean is mostly compensated from factory so not really an "issue". But you will see leaf packs being designated for passenger or driver side, as well as people using smaller spacers to compensate for the front aftermarket driver side coils. Of course with coilovers you wouldn't need a spacer. It really only comes into play when straying from stock suspension. My dads 04 Taco has stock suspension and is pretty used/tired and you still can't tell it has any lean. Now on a full tank it may tend to show a little.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
It only happens when you put an aftermarket suspension. My tacoma was always level, and I thought I guess the "Taco Lean" didn't affect me. Well, after adding my lift w/ bilstein, eibachs, and dakars. I now have a .25" - .5" lean on driver side. I'm adding a 1/4" top plate spacer this week to correct and get it close to level.

Long story short... It only happens with aftermarket suspension. And it's all due to more weight being on driver side.

My Taco was bone stock from the dealer and it had the lean. About 1/2 to 3/4 in down on the driver side. The 1/4 top plate spacer fixed it.

The lean isn't an issue if you leave a factory suspension alone, as its accounted for in the drivers side front spring. As someone else stated, if you change your springs out, the lean becomes noticeable since the aftermarket mfg didn't take the time to account for the lean.

Some aftermarket sellers like Toytec who specialize in Toyota trucks will include the properly sized washer or spacer (without having to guess or figure it out yourself) to sandwich on top of the correct spring to eliminate the lean.

The Tacoma is based on the Hilux, which overseas typically has the driver on the opposite side of the truck and balances out the weight of the gas tank and battery.

You're gonna get the lean on the Tacomas even with the stock stuff. Accept it or go for adjustable coilovers to compensate.

I have .25”-.4” lean on right side! I have adjustable freedom offroad coilovers that I did not install. Think it just neads re-adjustment on the right side?

Can someone confirm what the correct coil spring color codes should be for stock springs? 2006 Prerunner. Working on correcting suspension issue from previous owner leveling kit.

I've owned 4 Tacoma's and have never seen this so called Taco lean with stock suspension or after market suspension.
Maybe the Taco lean is like Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster. A myth :anonymous:

My Taco had the lean, 1/2" to the driver's side when measured at the rear wheel well. I have CS047Rs with 1" spacers I added after the leaf packs settled a bit. After some time I noticed the lean and my OCD kicked in. I added the 1/4" spacer to the top of the front driver's side coil over and it didn't seem to do much, never understood why people think a 1/4" spacer would fix the infamous Taco Lean...... I ended up buying a set of 1-1/2" spacers and swapped out the 1" spacer I had on the drivers side. I have an extra set of 1" and 1-1/2" spacers if anyone is interested check out my listing https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/welcome-to-capn-skidmarks-taco-stand.560203/#post-19623064

Huh, I see taco lean at least 3-4 times a week and I have the right tools to fix it.
