Just crossed 1000 miles yesterday and today we finally got a chance to take the new truck offroad for the first time. Took a trip out to Assateague today. Couldn't be happier with our TRD Offroad.

Did you need 4x4 at all?

Depends on the sand, dude. In the Jacksonville area, there are a few beaches that allow you to drive on the beach. Some are 4X2 friendly. Others, however - not so much. Found myself bogged down my first time driving onto a beach that was clearly marked for 4X4's. Lesson learned...

I don't know. Didn't take the chance. Aired down to 18psi and threw it in 4 hi. Handled the sand quite well.

The stock rugged fails handle sand pretty well actually. I got through some really soft sand without airing down.

I just used mine on the beach for the first time this last weekend also. Pulled our Dory down to the surf, launched and recovered the boat off the beach well for the first time. Seemed to be better than my 02, which was always great pulling on the beach.

    Good times.

Posted this in single cab forum too... had my first beach day with the new truck this weekend, down in Delaware Seashore State Park. Nice day, truck handled the sand with no problem in 4 hi aired down to about 20 psi.

And yeah, up north you need 4x4 for the beach. Down south some of the beaches are rocky or hard packed sand, but up here the sand is way to soft, you at least need awd. Subarus handle it pretty well actually. I've seen dudes in huge F250s get stuck and then some dude in like a subaru outback will blow by them no problem haha.

I haven't been up there yet. I want to hit Fenwick soon. Been a lot of good shark fishing up there lately.

Yeah DSSP is nice, usually less crowded than Cape Henlopen. I was hoping to get into some sharks, but I left right around sunset, which is right about when the sharks start biting.
