Wish toyota went back to they're roots with the hi-lux, the 70's thru-mid 90's were awesome trucks and the body was solid. Looking at these minivans with a bed cut out makes me cry.. and I drove this type of hi-lux in the picture while in kuwait what a big POS it was so weak and felt really cheaply made.

^^no diesel hilux in Mexico. Mexico doesn't get any of the nicer more loaded hilux that look beefier, and they only get loaded double cab tacomas.

Writing this while here in Ireland on Vacation. All sorts of different vehicles to see.

Plenty of diesel Hilux trucks, plus other brands. Style wise, the Tacoma is a Supermodel compared to the Hilux trucks I have seen. But like any hot chick, there seems to be high maintenance and for us it is called gasoline.

We rented a Nissan Qashqai +2 diesel. I don't know the HP specs, but overall it was easy to drive full of people and stuff since it had good power. Not sure how fast they are, since the fastest roads were 120 kmh.

I spent 6 weeks in Jordan, driving a '90s diesel 4x4 Hilux, nearly all off-pavement. It had great low end grunt from the diesel engine, small tires, and low gearing, but no top-end speed. You couldn't give them away in the USA.

there are tons of hilux around here, i notice many driven by women, its a bit logical as PU's are the only fully deductible car in mexico...
