I'm having some trouble getting the axle nut off. I don't own an impact wrench. Is it possible to do it with a simple breaker bar? Also, I assume I'll need to torque that back down to a specific torque when I put it back on, is that correct? Or do you just tighten "really tight"?

    Thanks for the help!

In case anyone is following this thread - I replaced the wheel bearing and that was it.

Boom. Problem solved! It sounds smooth and perfect.

Now I gotta attack that dash rattle and the cabin air filter....

Right on! Was on Vacation and didn't log in for a bit. Glad you got it solved. I just took about 1000mile trip with mine and it is great having the smoother ride back!

Nice. It was really nice to get the smoothness back, and the job really wasn't that hard (once I got the proper tools). I wound up buying a breaker bar, a 17mm wrench, and 35mm axle nut socket and just got the torque wrench from Autozone (on loan).

I accidentally forgot to put the brake shroud back on the first time, so I took the bearing assembly out and put the brake shroud on. Then I realized the brake shroud was on backwards, so I had to take the whole thing out again and put it back in.

In all honesty, the hardest part was getting that little safety pin put back in after the axle nut was torqued down. That thing was a beotch. Most everything else was relatively simple.
