You can but I think most recommend gl-4 for the transmission. Amsoil makes a gl-4 75-90 specifically for this. It's called "manual transmission and transaxle gear lube".

    ^This

I wouldn't use gl-5 if you don't have too in the transmission. I have not used the Amsoil Stevo recommended(heard good things though) but I have used Redline MT-90(also a gl-4 without friction modifiers) in my 6-speed and have had no problems.

It will be good in diffs and transfer case

Diffs and t-case. You can run it in the trans but a GL4 fluid like the two examples above would be better.

I use it in my transmission, as I stated above. It is for GL4 and 5. With 3 years and 55k on that transmission since the switch no issues what-so-ever. I like that it's easier to just get one product.

^This. See if you can return the leftover sever gear and get the amsoil manual trans oil or redline mt-90. Most on here swear by the mt-90, but I couldn't find any in Canada for reasonable shipping costs, so I went with the amsoil.

Sorry to highjack your thread, but what makes the GL-4 better than GL-5? Just curious...

In simple terms gl5 is slipperier and makes the synchros less effective. Synchros cause drag on the shaft to help the shifting collars align during a shift.

I use GL5 in all the boxes and have for the last 20 years...GL4 is pretty much obsolete...check out Bob the Oil guy for technical reference...

And if you want snake oil, I have a whole drum I can give you at a very good price.

And remember, not all the Amsoil stuff meets API requirements.

As stated twice before I use the same product in my 6 speed transmission. There has been no extra wear, no shifting issues what-so-ever. Just use what you have or go buy something else. It's your money.
