If you have such a big deal about it then go do something instead of bitching on Tacoma world! Go call your reps at your local level and work your way up if you want to do something about it.

Chis, honestly I rather not talk about if it's right or wrong. I rather get info on how to mod the way I what to. You might not like it for your truck but it's personal choice. I don't have i lift and don't want it. But you might, you see...
And to show that my scenario is well within of today's reality read this:
Rich kid kills four while driving drunk, goes jail free. Life is crazy thing, and i rather have choice.

This can happen. I guess all you youngins don't remember the Seat Belt Interlock Law of 1974. Most all cars had to have The seat belts buckled or the car would not start. Some foreign cars got to use loud buzzers to make you put on the belts. The congress over turned the law in late 74 after the 75's came out and people complained about the implementation of the law. Congress did a lot more back in those days.

Wow, where did you see me bitching. I was soliciting help from forum and suggesting a fix. Chris questioned need for this mod. We talked about it. I don't call out people on internet, it's like flipping a finder to passing car. You know that law prevents that driver from pulling you out the car and smashing your head several times with a door. Or pulling out 9mm and putting one in the knee like they do in Russia.
So anyways, if you could add to discussion on how MOD a airbag module, please do so.

What about the other six chips recording in your vehicle. Just like years ago with the vin plates hidden in your car to stop car theft, what makes you think there is only one chip that records. They make micro chips the size of the head of a pin and could be hidden anywhere. What make you think there is only one. Something to think about.

It has one. IN 2011 99% of all vehicles made had them, and it will be mandatory that ALL vehicles have them in 2014.

I found this in my owners manual:"Your Toyota is equipped with several sophisticated computers that will record certain data, such as:
    Engine speed
    Accelerated status
    Brake status
    Vehicle speed
    Shift position (except manual transmission)

I like that the OP is perusing this topic and would love to know as much as possible about the subject.

That said, I see no surefire way to "remove" data information without employing severe measures. I like usernames suggestion and you could also consider detcord with a water tamp charge bladder. But this route may bring other "hypothetical" consequences.

Come to think of it the CANBUS is always puking data into the ECM as well as TCM. This is how long term fuel trims and shift patterns (auto trans) are learned. Rip all of it out and put a carb on it? Buy a 1984 pickup pre OBD?

If you are going to post this at least post a link. If not we will be forced to consider it is bull shit.

I looked it up here: http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2010/0813/Scientists-hack-into-cars-computers-control-brakes-engine

That was all they did was trashed the TPMS Computer. They did not control anything.

That is so easy a baby can do it. Connect to the CAN Buss.

    OK! Have fun!

Maybe while you are at it, saw off your shotgun, roll back you odometer, take off your emmissions controls, mount a some blue strobe lights, and wrap your windows in 10% tint.
