I put the denso irediums in mine @ 60k. No there will be no power increase, but you won't have to change them for another 100k. Not to mention I work at a dealer, so I get one hell of a deal.

Correct. However, the ignition system on the 2.7 is designed for Iridium plugs, so they should be used on it.

I think the manual says anything between .038 and .043

Personally, I shoot for .040.

ooo, OK, think I pulled the .043 from the owner's manual instead of service manual. I'll split the range then when I change them out in the real near future.

I used them once in my car & only the wallet noticed the difference but it didn't come with them. Just using NGK copper in it but the tacoma 2.7 comes with iridiums so that's what'll go back in.

Since we're on the topic of plugs, what's a good gapping tool for the electrodes?

I use whatever's on sale at the time: Champions, NGK, Autolite... or whatnot. I usually get 50-60k out of them before I change them, and even then they still look fine. Mines and older taco with an actual cap and rotor system, so I have to change that stuff out about every 60k as well. Its all pretty cheap and easy to do. Usually do wires every 75k.
