Pics look good but you gotta go see it in person. Trust your gut when you get there. You will know if it is love at first sight. If you have to "talk yourself into it" then maybe it is not the one.

dont settle for a manual if its not what you want, get exactly what you're looking for or you'll end up regretting it, just my opinion, not a bad price though 18-19k is about right for that truck

I would be happy to trade you for a slightly used Jeep.

But seriously, thanks for the advice. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

If you really like shifting gears and prefer a manual, pass on this one and get the one that you really want. You will find one eventually.

Also read all the threads on TW regarding 6MT so you know what you are getting.

In my area it would be slightly higher than average price wise, but that is probably irrelevant to your location...

He asked for advice. I loved my truck when I got it...but now I'm over it. Lacks power. Cheap interior. Virtually no aftermarket. It has 8k miles on it and it rattles like crazy everywhere. If someone pays that much money for a mid sized truck I would expect a far better quality of a vehicle....Ive stated my opinion in one other thread by the way. If someone wants a Tacoma then they will get one, but if they are asking opinions then they are on the fence about it.

Well I'm not sure if you are being a trolling douche or being genuine, but I actually appreciate the review. It is nice knowing that someone doesn't like tacos and can give honest opinion. I think what is drawing me to the tacomas isn't the interior/ comfort (hell I am driving a Jeep), but rather the dependability and longevity of Toyotas. I owned a Gen 4 4Runner and I regret selling it. Thanks for the advice though.

Confused about the aftermarket. Imo that is one of Tacoma's strengths all the aftermarket support.

Lacks power? Did you not test drive one before you bought it? I do understand different people have different expectations and driving styles so a V6 Tacoma may not be powerful to some, but that only brings me back to my original point, the test drive. Personally, this V6 has plenty of power for me and there is SC available if that isn't enough. For 3rd gen, I would like to see Toyota focus on fuel economy instead of more power.

Interior was slightly redesigned recently. Idk if the quality slipped over the years? Mine is fine, apart that it scratches easily and the damn blower motor chirps and currently is stuck on high fan setting only. (There is a TSB fix for that and if I'm not mistaken there is a new p/n for the blower motor itself. Newer model years would have one already installed from factory I would imagine)

2k later and in some part I can agree with you. When I changed out the speakers in the doors, I was amazed on how little hardware was holding it together. And everyone knows the speakers are pure junk. The seats also lack real side support. Not sure how I would like them on a long trip. I drive my Taco 80 miles a day and track every tank of gas (22.3 -23.7) on every tank.

Aftermarket? DAMN... My credit card is already hot. I'm not adding fuzzy dice or gun racks, but it seems every item I wanted was easily found on the net.

My V6 has plenty of power for me and if I wanted race, I would not buy a 6 cylinder truck in the first place.

Resale is also higher than the others in this segment.

Would I buy it again... YES! For the price and in its segment, I believe its the best you can find. For a truck with 27.4k sticker and out the door for 23.5k. I more than got my monies worth!

    Wish you the best....

    Interesting,

I'm not sure from your description if you have TRD or not. I find the Sport seats to be very comfortable, actually the best seats I've ever had by far. They have tons of support and I've done lots of long distance driving. I know base and SR5 truck come with different seats than TRD's, but have never sat in SR5, so I can't comment.

    To add to the 6MT.

To summarize, reverse is too tall of a gear, 6th is not tall enough so your hwy mileage will suffer a bit. There are some throw out bearing problems, but I believe that was addressed with later model years and some clutch pedal squeak.

Auto is the preferred transmission for 2nd gen Tacoma's over the 6MT here on TW as you will probably find out if you start looking into it more. I don't have any problems with mine and have no regrets.

Plenty of power? Try towing a trailer. Its a nightmare. I had a Tahoe that got the same gas mileage and had more power. I wanted an upgrade and a pick up. I did test drive my truck before buying and I guess I was caught up in the moment and didn't really shop around. Its very true that these trucks hold there value and are very reliable. Im not bashing these trucks Im just pointing out the obvious to a potential buyer. The aftermarket for these are not very broad. There are a few bolt on performance mods and that's about it. An intake that does nothing and same for exhaust. There is no ecu programming available for the 12-13's. Same for transmission programing...i.e. shift points, firmness, and adjustment for larger tires. I'll agree that its still early and they may be available in the future. The interior is made from hard plastic that scratches easy. The VSC on these trucks are GOING to kill someone, this was a poor design by Toyota...on paper it looks good...but then again so does communism. I do admit that I love the look my truck has but I feel that there are a lot of areas that could use improvement.

Considering the towing capacity is around 6400lbs and I tow something that's less than half that...this thing cant get out of its own way. the torque curve is way to high..and if by tow machine you mean a full size or diesel truck than yes I would have gotten one of those, but because of the weight I thought this would be adequate....and yes those two things look good on paper
