I would appreciate any input regarding differences in city and freeway ride quality for those who have had experience in driving both off road and sport. I currently have 12 off road and may attempt tsb for harsh ride with my dealer even though 12 not eligible (yet?). I drove a sport one time for short distance a couple months prior to off road purchase and I don't remember specific differences, seems like it was stiffer. I would want the 4 leaf for potential camper shell weight but am never off road. If I could get this done I wonder if I would notice any difference in ride after time. Thanks for any input.

Sorry, not all Sport models have the 4 leaf pack.

One of the biggest myths spread here.

I have a 2012 TRD Sport Prerunner with a 3 leaf pack, if you want proof search for the pic.

May be a regional thing, I don't know, but I can assure you all Sports aren't 4 leaf. (Long beds are also hard to find here, I've never seen one.)

Sport offered nothing that I wanted that OR didn't also offer. Plus, I come from sports cars and motorcycles. The last thing I need is a skewp right in front of me, encouraging me to drive it faster than trucks are supposed to be driven and winding up in a ditch or the river.

I think you misread something somewhere. The only "features" I'm aware of that you "lose" when you get the stickshift OR is hill start assist and hill descent control, which is meaningless in a stickshift. You retain all the traction control stuff. If you are upset about the loss of buttons, the stickshift gains one in the form of clutch start cancel, which lets you start the truck in gear (really cool btw). Come to think of it, does the auto have that?

You can get a DCSB in Canada , just not a DCSB TRD Offroad

Off-road all the way... just so I wouldn't feel like a manginis. If you have to ask, you must have off-road envy. :D

Another reason also is I don't plan to change anything in the suspension hence why I just bought an OR package instead of SR5. I like everything factory... locker and suspension. I don't need it to perform any better than the way it is from factory... No 5100's or anything ( not that they're bad)I am tech for Infiniti and I hate working on cars with aftermarket stuff. I've had a lifted Tundra prior to my OR and it looked very nice but these days almost every truck has some lift on and it's non sense to me now. I have a family now. Bad gas mileage, stress on joints, driveline, tire noise is just out of my system now.

I love the Crome bumper and grille surround because they're hard to scratch and it makes more sense in an OR. always looks new. When a painted grille gets rock pits it starts to look ugly and stands out same goes for the rear painted bumper. Hood scoops do look nice though but not worth for my locker and softer suspension. The 16"wheels style looks nice and tires are cheaper compared to 17s. But I guess it's what ever your happier with....OR or Sport.

I have to agree with you on the grille surround and bumper. I am one of the minority who likes the chrome bumper & grille surround. I liked the chrome front bumper on my '02 Tacoma also; it looked more like an actual bumper...

I chose the DCSB OR for a lot of reasons:

    1. Rear locker - really need one of those off road (which I do every chance I get)
    2. Traction controls - really nice off road
    3. Softer suspension: - better flex off road and softer ride on the road (yeah you give up some "handling" from the sport, but it is a TRUCK! Buy a sports car if you want handling)
    4. Double Cab - This is the family car, so giving everyone their own door just makes sense.
    5. Short bed - I love this option for both the on and off road capability. Off road a shorter wheel base is an asset on tight trails and with break over angles. On road a shorter wheel base is an asset in tight parking spaces. Where I live and work both tight rocky trails and cramped parking lots are in the majority. Besides what do I need a long bed for anyway? I just carry a cooler and some folding chairs.
    6. Upgraded seats - I like how they hold you in place without getting all grabby about it.
    7. 16 inch tires - they give you more sidewall flex when aired down and leave more money in your pocket when replacement time comes.
The rest of the differences really don't matter to me in the least. If I could pick and choose options, I'd do it differently than the way Toyota did, but its not worth my time wishing for what I can't have.
