I'm so confused about people saying off road package had a stiff ride over the Sport. I shook my head at this confused because i thought the OR felt less stiff and ALOT more comfortable. The off road feels looser which I prefer when driving fast over imperfect roads, pot holes, driveways, uneven roads, even speed bumps as far as driving in the streets. I hate having to baby a truck and slowdown driving over them after all whats a reason to drive a truck fast on corners as what the Sport has. My only concern about my Off Road is why it sits lower than Sport...

A stock OR shouldn't sit lower than a stock Sport. Actually has slightly bigger tires, if i'm not mistaken.

I chose an OR for the rear locker as my primary reason.

The reason it sits lower is because the front shocks suck I mean they don't even have enough room to keep the truck level that's why I am replacing the fronts with 5100s

Trucks are always rear high, hence the market for "leveling kits." It isnt the shocks that keep the truck level either; your 5100s will preload the springs, which will level the truck.

I chose the OR over the sport for the locker as well. I just wish it didn't have the chrome rear bumper. Oh we'll, it's getting plasti dipped this weekend anyway!

I thought the same thing as far as height when i was shopping for my OR in May. So I parked my OR next to a Sport. Side by side they appeared to be the same ride height or at least very close (i didn't have a tape in my pocket) Even today the Sport still looks higher to me, but i think its just the 17's and bigger gap in the wheel well from the street tires that make it "look" higher. Ive never bothered to look up the specs so i could be wrong. my .02

stiffer coil springs, and 4 leaf pack in sport is why it would be a little higher.

Stock height didn't matter to me due to plans to change everything out anyway.....the locker is all I wanted.

I am not a fan of the non-functional hood scoop, and wanted the rear diff lock, that was the difference maker for me. I went from an Audi to my Tacoma, so I appreciate something that handles well on the street, but this is a truck, so I didn't mind the compromise in street handling.

I went with the OR because of the locker. Completely agree that the sports seem to sit higher. Would have liked the hood, but whatever. I went through absolute hell trying to replace the electronics for my locker in my 4runner, so I didnt want to go through that again.

I was beginning to wonder why the OR models sat lower that the Sport models. Thanks for clearing that up. Not going to matter for me anyways, since I plan on putting the OME kit on in the future.

I went for the off-road, because you have more control over your driving demands. For example, you can turn off some of the automatic features the other trucks have for serious off-roading like roll over air bag sensor off switch, descend ascend assist, diff locker, a-track switch, etc...etc. also for the beefier differential. I can always put and after market scoop that looks similar for $60 bucks! And color match the chrome parts.;)

Offroad has progressive coil springs and a 3 leaf pack. So it would drive a little softer on pavement. Sport has linear coil springs and a 4 leaf pack. So it seems to sit slightly higher. I've had both models and I personally prefer the sport model. I don't like chrome, and I never used the locker. I like all the color matched parts on the sport but could do without the skewp!
