I have the Toytec Adjustable Coilovers with spanner wrench adjustment. They feature the adjustable Bilstein shocks. I've had and used them for 5 years now. Thinking about new 5100's, not sure yet. I thinking about removing the Eibach coils that came on them and going with the OEM coils. My question is this, after I remove the OEM coil will the coil plate (plate that holds the bottom of the spring to the shock) come off or is it made onto the factory shock. Thanks. Trying not to buy any new parts if I don't have too.

I don't think you can swap out the coils on the toytec coilovers

The eibach coils will give a better ride, you are going to have to compress the oem's to get the same lift out of them, resulting in a harsher ride. Just replace the shocks if they need to be.

IMO the Eibach's have also been stiff. No off roads at all. Highway only. Looking for ride quality here. I could adjust the c clip up on the 5100's to aid the OEM coil. How can I tell if shocks are bad.

Looking to soften the ride. I'm speaking of the plate that holds the coil on the OEM strut.

Hell no. Might as well have a 2x4 between LCA and chassis.

How does your 885x ride compare to OEM? 5100's?

I believe the spring perch is mounted to the stock shock, and won't come off with the coil. If you order new 5100's they will come with the perch for your oem coils. Don't expect a real comfortable ride though.

    885 is a lift spring, 5100 is a shock.

I figured the OEM would be softer due to a lower spring rate.

I'm asking how does the ride from the 885 compare to the ride from the OEM coils?

    Are you running 5100's also?

    I've got All Pro coilovers.

Your best bet is going to be a full OME front suspension, ie 885's and shocks. The next step up is going to be a full coilover, Icon/King etc.

The off roads have progressive coils and ride very firm when preloaded.

    Sr5 and sports are linear.

I'd suggest calling down south motorsports and telling Sonny or Micah what u expect from a set of shocks.

Right now ur going from an overpriced poor riding setup to a cheaper and not much better idea.

Educate me. What's the difference in a full Coilover like icons compared to the adjustable toy tec coil overs that I have?

Yours is a 5100 with a threaded perch. Simply just an easy way to adjust an above average shock.

Full coilover such as mine or the kings or icons, are designed to tame the wildest of terrains as well as provide maximum lift. Aside from being more stout they are usually completely rebuildable, so rather than replace, you could rebuild what you have. Also, the coilovers like mine come with a spring designed for that coilover, whereas you have an off-the-shelf eibach coil on a 5100 shock. Don't get me wrong, you have a nice setup, much better than stock. Icons or Kings are just top of the line.
