I know I could install this mod, but what problems will I encounter that would be needed by the dealer (ECU flash ?) I can get it at a rock bottom price and with no tax! so I would consider but the dealer wants "$1,300.00 for the install. What do you guys think- Pro's and Cons

If you are mechanically inclined it will be cake. Just take it to the dealer for the pcm update.

Ive been considering this myself. My dealer wanted 8k back last year when I priced it. I think they haven't done many or any of them. Ive read that the fit kit is all youll need, and then Ive read youll need some other things. Think I may just save up and find another dealer. I know this doesn't answer your question really though. Oh, and yes, you will need the dealer to do an ECU reflash.

Im mechanically incline, but if you have to change fuel pump, injectors and such, I would rather leave it to a dealer that has done several already.

I understand the ECU flash part, so what do I do trailer it to the dealer, will it run to get it their? I think it is satisfying to do it myself!! TRD step by step instructions are pretty cut and dry.

8K is super high for a 4k part, Did he figure a whole week of labor 40 x 100 = 4k. He must be a union mechanic!!

Just do it yourself, you don't need to change the fuel pump, but the injectors you do. You can drive it to the dealer when you are done, just stay easy on the throttle.

If you have changed the belts on an engine and done spark plugs, you can do the supercharger.

I did it with a buddy and it took us about 16 hours from hood up to hood down. I had mine towed to the dealer by insurance but you can drive it to the dealer as long as you keep the RPMs under 2k.

    Good luck!

Ive installed it twice myself with buddy and you need all day to do it. It can be done with basic tools and time. The injectors were cake they were just plug and play no need for special tools or anything. The fuel pump is not required for install but I didnt that myself as well by taking off the bed and sliding it a foot back to access the gas tank openeing (only can be done on long bed models other then that you have to drop your tank on DC SB models). I installed my supercharger on Sat and got it flasehed at the dealer on Mon so youll be fine as long as your not out racing it before flash.

Wow twice? I debated doing it myself since I was a mechanic for 10 years, but my truck is still under warranty so I talked to a frined at a local Toyota dealership and Monday I am getting it done for $5300. I can live with that since I am going to be keeping my taco till the day I die and wont screw with the warranty or my extended warranty since dealer installed

SC w/urd pulley, afe cai, URD LT's, TRD cat back. 375hp. Custom logos, tonneau cover, westin bar with piaa lights, aero force gauges, custom front air dam, Westin step bars.
Shoptrd.com has the sc for $3400 and the fit kit for $326.

I contemplated doing it myself after calling around and getting prices around $1500. Finally called my closest Toy dealer who quoted me $390. WHAT??? I asked him 3 times and he said yes he could do it for that. Well sign me up!!!
