I have a 2013 regular cab 5 speed manual 4 cylinder. The shift from 1st to 2nd seems pretty notchy. Right now it has only 800 miles and was wondering if this is pretty normal and if it gets better?

My tranny has been getting smoother as I put miles on it. I've also found that either double clutching or matching the revs before trying to drop into 2nd helps. Since 1st to 2nd is an upshift, just gently press the shift lever against 2nd as the revs fall, and at the right RPM the lever should just fall in, practically of its own accord.

I had the same issue. It got better when the transmission would warm up, but it continues to get better as i put more miles on the truck.

On my 1st gen i rarely shift from 1st-2nd smoothly, when i do it's because i rev matched.
