I've recently bought my 07 DC LB Taco less than a month ago. When asked by my friends why I wanted a Tacoma over other trucks, I really didn't have an answer for them. I just know about Toyota's reliability and durability, so I had my eyes set on a Taco all along. My friends pointed out size, towing capacity, fuel economy, as reasons to go with other trucks, but I maintained course and found a Taco that I liked.

So, just curious as to why you guys chose the Taco over other trucks? Was price, performance, looks, anything a factor over all others?

Cause I owned my last one 12 yrs and 209,000 trouble free miles. Correct question should be why would you buy anything else? BTW welcome to TW from down south of you.

My brother had an early 90's Toyota Truck, 4wd with the 3.0 V6. That was a great truck. I decided then that I wanted, someday, a Toyota Truck. Years later, I went looking for a truck. I looked at all of the options in my price range, Tacoma, Ranger, Frontier, Dakota, Colorado. Narrowed it down to Tacoma and Frontier. Dealers wouldn't give me anywhere near to a good deal on a Frontier (inexplicably), and I found a great deal on a Tacoma. That made the final decision for me.

    4. Found one locally that was too good to pass up (2013 with 3500 miles)
    5. Right size for me
    6. Gas mileage (21 HWY according to Toyota...BS but 18 is still ok)

Because Toyota makes the best frickin trucks in the market today. I didn't need a large ( Tundra ) truck so it had to be a Tacoma.

I guess you could say I am a loyal customer... my first was a 1966 Toyota Corona in a nice light piss yellow color. Ugly as hell, but it was indestructible! Believe me I tried!

I had a Colorado and it handled really well, but there was almost zero aftermarket accessories for it. I wanted to build a trail truck and that ruled out all the fullsized trucks.

Tacomas are all that's left in the midsized market really.

    Also they look fuckin' sweet.

My'96 5 lug now has 277,500 miles and still runs great. Wanted to get a new medium size 4x4 and counting on the 2.7 being the equal of the 2.4.

Almost everybody around here drives Ford and Chevy and my buddies all gave me flack for buying a Tacoma, which they call "not a real truck." I obviously don't care what they think and am on my third Tacoma. But as has been said, I bought it for styling, size, brand loyalty, resale, and reputation.

    My reasons...in no particular order:

    1. Size
    2. Style
    3. Capability Off Road mixed with Comfort On Road
    4. Aftermarket Support
    5. Long term reliability and durability
    6. Resale value
    7. TacomaWorld
    - Honestly, I started looking at tacomas ONLY because of the people on TacomaWorld and all the support here. Noticed that other forums were filled with (more) duchebags, and less helpful people. Everyone here seemed to love their trucks and my search for an F150 or Ram 1500 soon came to a hault. Drove the Tacoma and just felt at home behind the wheel...
