Please give me your honest openion, I have a 2005 double cab PreRunner One owner. I bought it in 05 and only used it to go to work about 24 miles a day, the truck is babied. I decided to do a 6" lift using spindles and Icon ext travel up front and resi's on the back along with custom built Devar leaf packs to even it out. I have 285/70/17 Nitto Trails with XD Cranks, I also added 1.25" Bora wheel spacers on the back to match the front since the spindles pushed the front out some. About a month and a half ago I got the Road Force Blance done and found one of the wheel/tire would not balance but the shop did what they could to get it close, the service rep said it could be either the tire, the rim or the axel. OK I'm going to shorten this, I got the truck Smoged the other day and while they had it on the dyno I noticed the right passanger tire wobbleing pretty bad. I just bought a new rim and tire for a spare so I brought it to the shop and they put it on, same thing wobble. I could see it was the axel. I have kept this truck in Mall Crawler shape you could eat off the underside of this truck mind you I am an old retired dude with a kids truck I just like the Tacoma and how it looks. I have said this because I do not go wheeling, hell, I havent even gone over 500 hundered miles on one trip. Now my question, HOW THE HELL DD MY AXEL GET ENT. NO ONE ELSE DRVES THE TRCK CAN'T FND ANY MARKS THAT T WAS HT ON ETHER SDE. Please tell me what you think. I'm beginning to believe there is some foule play going on between the original shop that installed the lift.

I seriously doubt that you have a bent axle from what you have posted.

" I also added 1.25" Bora wheel spacers on the back"

I would remove the spacers and then recheck it. ( I think the spacers are the issue and not the axle).

Yes the Bora's are hubcentric. I watched the axel turn with the wheel on with the wheel off, and with the brake drum off and it wobbled. I saw it was my axel. I just don't have a clue how it got bent. I did not run over anything I did not hit anything. The only reason I posted here was I did not want to put anyone on blast. It just damn odd to me.

You have to check the run out on the hub not the flange of the axle shaft.

What's the heaviest load you've carried in the truck, and did you do the installation yourself or have a shop install stuff?

I have not carried anything in this truck. I had a shop do the installation I watched as they installed the equipment. The only conclusion I can come to is that someone hit it without leaving any marks on the fender or marks on the tire that I did not notice at the time. The rear tires stick out away from the fender's about a inch and a quarter so it's possible they hit the tire and not the rim but that's a long shot. Just weird. I will do as fixer5000 said and use a dial indicator maybe that will give me an idea. Thank's

I would think that if someone hit your truck hard enough to bend an axle, that the exterior of the truck or tire would have significant damage. Do you hear any noise when the tire is spinning like bad bearing noises or anything?

No noise and I would not have even noticed it until they put it on the dyno and I saw how the tire had a wobble on the passanger rear side. I think it started when I took the truck in to be road force balanced and the service advisor told me he could not balance one of the tires but got it as close as he could and placed it on the rear passanger side. I informed him at that time the truck had not been used for anything else than transportation. He told me it was either the wheel, tire or axle. I had them put on a new wheel and tire I had for a spare and the same thing happened, I watched as the spacer was turning and with the brake drum on and off I watched the hub wobble. I don't know, unless this guy during the first road force balance did something to the right side rear axle I just don't know what to believe after all I was not in the truck during the test drive after service. This seems like a good shop I have had them do regular scheduled Maint. but who knows and you are right I should have some kind of shaking or noise but I do not. It's just damn weird.

    Can ya spell Tonneau
I'm sorry to hear about that.
Only advice I can give you, if it were me I'd start taking off parts and find the problem. If it is truly a bent axle or a really cocked bearing I too would be suspicious. If you trust the shop, why not come to them with the problem and see what they say? If the shop was questionable, I'd wonder if the truck slid off of a lift or stand. Look really hard underneath for any other damage. I watched a few yahoos try to lift their f150 with a forklift when the damn thing slipped and shoved a fork through a wheel well.

Oh, and 43 here. It's not a kid's truck. It's that we like cool trucks.

That is truly weird. I would check at the axle hub with a dial indicator also. Something obviously happened to the truck that you do not know about. It didn't bend from just driving it.

If you're taking stuff apart anyway it's worth the extra step to replace the bearing and seal while you're at it. Shouldn't be necessary unless you have a leak, but might as well since you're already in there.
