Since that link is for automatic transmission bolts I doubt they are engine oil pan bolts. Call or visit a Toyota dealer-?

What do you guys think about the seal gasket setting in cold weather. I need to do this and it's going to be 10-20F all week here. Maybe live with the slow leak until next oil change in the spring. Plus not wanting to lay on cold concrete for several hrs freezing my finger tips off. I think I answered my own question. Probably going to get some extra bolts just in case. How did this turn out for the OP? Any leaks?

Is it possible to take the oil pan off without removing the differential ? Looks tight but maybe doable. I have read different things in regard to it.

In order to replace the pan gasket, is it necessary to remove the upper one or is just the lower one fine ?

Do these bolt sockets frequently need to be rethreaded ?

THere is an Upper pan with a seal and a lower pan with a seal.

It depends on which pan you are replacing.

When my truck was in a shop (just to replace the tires) last time, about 18 months ago, they told me my oil pan gasket needed replacement. Finally, I started losing oil within the last oil change and measured only about 1.5-2 qt of oil drained out (out of 5 that I had put in). So I reasonably believe it is something as simple as the pan gasket since I have recently rebuilt the cylinder heads and replaced all the gaskets and I checked that the oil is not getting mixed with the coolant. So I will start with just the lower pan gasket (easy), if that doesn't stop losing oil, then I'll take the differential out and the upper. I guess...

Sounds like you don't check your oil very often. I would suggest checking the oil level at least every other fuel stop.

Get under and clean up the pans with simple green or similar and then monitor it and you will see where it is coming from. If the lower pan it is easy.

you're right and part of the complacency on my part is because I don't really think I ever had an oil leak before ("won't happen to me" fallacy)...

in this particular case, since the amount that came out seems roughly like the volume that fits the lower pan (1.5-2 qt), I think it is safe to suspect it is the lower gasket. If it were the upper one, while assuming the lower one is fine, there would be more oil left.

This thread helped me immensely. To reiterate there is enough clearance to replace the lower oil pan without removing the front differential. (2005 TRD Sport 4x4) My pan developed a few pinholes and needed replacement.

How does a oil pan develop pin holes? Just curious.

    Too few to list.
    I'm guessing due to rust.

My state and town loves salt and salt brine spray. I guess it was a matter of time. I started doing a fluid film application after I got my new frame a few years back.

Mine also. A matter of fact I just washed the dried salt spray off today since it was 40 degrees. My neighbor must think I’m crazy, because it’s suppose to rain tomorrow. Nevertheless, I put on my rubber gloves, hook up the hose and also spray underneath real good.
