For those not familiar: Toyota replaced the frame due to corrosion failure. We have complete service / maintenance records.

In our particular case there's not going to be a mystery about the background of the truck.

I am surprised you're selling. I think a lot of people will steer clear from it since it is such a fresh swap. They'll probably think that you're bailing because it "has" problems now. Frame stuff freaks people out.

we haven't listed it anywhere yet so I can't report on what feedback, if any, there is. Will do so when I have some comments etc.

As someone said, to those who know this is neutral or even a plus. I agree that your average buyer would get jittery, esp if it was frame repair after a collision. as is reasonable.

We don't need it anymore, hence the intent to find a new home for it.

I would probably be turned off but who knows. The first owner of my truck had the transmission blow up and had to be entirely replaced by toyota and he apparently never had an issue after that and neither have I.

If you didn't need the truck then why go through all the hassle and I would honestly pay you about 7k for an 05 with a swapped frame

I think the truck should value on par with NADA or KBB, not increase or decrease. I'd look at a truck with a replaced frame more favorably than one that hasn't had it swapped. I'd know that I'm much safer in the newer frame.

Seems a lot of folks have a serious lack of trust issues. I'm far from naive but I'm not cynical about major repairs or rebuilds. Come on!

Let's look at this from another perspective. Would you buy a used car that was rebuilt by Boyd Coddington or Chip Foose first? I can say that in my opinion, one is a hack and the other is a very thorough restoration expert with attention to detail.

    Flame on folks.... ;)

I'm talking about buying something today he worked on then... of the two, there's no comparison. What do you think? All his projects were buried with him?

My 2002 with a new frame courtesy of Toyota has had no problems what-so-ever. Toyota has developed a system to do these swaps with minimal complications.

I have had to replace other components due to rust but I have experienced no problems related to the frame replacement.

Was your comment based upon first hand experience?

i would think that in a rust belt state a replaced frame would have a higher resale value. I know that if i lived in somewhere like michigan / wisconsin etc, i probably wouldnt even buy a toyota due to them being notorious for frame rust, but would consider getting one if it had a new frame.

yes, it was surplus to purposes after we had to buy a second vehicle while waiting for them to decide to fix it or not (pre-recall).

found a buyer who was happy to find a truck with our specs etc.

So having sold it, how was the price affected by the frame replacement?

That sounds about right to me. I'm surprised to see some thing the value will decrease.
