I did a fair bit of searching and reading and can't seem to find the answer to my specific question so I'll just start a thread hoping to get an answer to my question since I need to get tires in the morning. I currently have stock OR 16" wheels but have a set of the FJ 6-spoke wheels on the way. As I understand it the backspace is 4.5" v 5.5" so the FJ wheels push outwards 1" versus the stock OR wheels. My suspension is currently 5100's front set to 1.75" and the rear is just a TSB. I'm considering AAL in rear and then either springs up front or going to the 2.5" setting but I'm curious if this setup as is will allow me to run 285/65r16's w/o losing the mudflaps. I know some will say to lose them but I like them and they are quite functional for me where I drive. The other option is to just get 265/75r16's and be done with it but I'm afraid that should I go higher with the lift later the tires will look too small. If the 285's will fit the current setup then I may just get them now and then I won't have any worries other than slightly lower MPGs versus the smaller size tire.

    Thanks for the input.

I had my 5100s at the highest setting and would still scrub on the fender flares after I took off my mudflaps so probably not

What wheels? I think I would have to do even more trimming with the FJ wheels but the UCA's wouldn't be an issue. Might just be going with the 265's anyway.

You said 285/75 in the title & 285/65 in the first post. In any case the answer is no.

I have 285's on stock OR wheels with 1.25" spacers billies set to 2.5" and no rubbing after minor trimming. you will not be able to retain the front flaps without rubbing, i already tried.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but I run 285/75/16 KM2's on FJ wheels (4.5" BS) with billies @ 2.5" with no rubbing, good alignment & stock UCA's.

I'm running 265/75/16 and I removed my front flaps because they would scrub/snag when wheeling and flexing

I removed the small flaps in front of the front wheel well. All others are intact and completely stock. I don't wheel this truck. It sees mild off pavement duty only.

That's interesting actually and I was thinking about asking after that last post. If I will have to remove the mud flaps even with the 265's then I might as well pop for the 285's but I'd really rather keep them. sounds like I might not be able to.

I wasn't asking about the inner wheel well liners but the actual mud flaps that hang down behind the wheel wells.

You are aware Toyota specs 113% more travel on the LB right......
Oh damn nevermind that is only accounting for LB frame flex. Not the percieved 113% Weiner enlargement for having the inadequate SB.

With a D70 HD an 8.0 Yota locker is worthless.
Edit: Well, it is a nice paperweight.
