Anyone have trouble taking the screw off? It seems so hard and I don't want to mess it up.

yup. That is one stripped out screwhead. Definitely gonna have to drill that out at this point. Or you can try cutting the outside of the head into a square and getting some pliers on it.

    Or leave it alone :D

I would cut a slot across it and use a flat head Screwdriver.

Looks strip but the torx can fit in there and I don't want to strip it anymore. Thinking of going to dealer to remove and replace it as a last resort.

That should not be the last resort in this case. I have faith in you. If the socket fits turn it. If it gets screwed up use one of our methods and get a new bolt to replace them.

Back it out with a socket wrench as opposed to drill to avoid further stripping.

Forgot to mention I'm trying to install the EZ down tailgate. Need to place a bracket there. Another option is to leave that alone and drill another hole beside that to mount the bracket.

    +1

This is the best first attempt. Just buzz it with a cutoff wheel and make a nice flat line to use a screwdriver on.

Happened to me on that same screw. It was in there and wouldn't budge...just stripped out with the torx bits
