Might be more serious than you think. I'd get an estimate ASAP.

I got rear ended on the interstate couple months ago, i was lucky enough to catch it before impact and was able to accelerate and absorb some of the impact. The bumper and tow hitch took most of the damage, my bed didn't move at all. I would get the frame inspected.

Does this look right to you? This is the passenger side frame rail in the wheel opening. it seems to kick up just on the inside edge. Right now the estimate is at $2067 but that was for Non led Tail lights and non sr5 bumper.

Wife got rear ended end of June.

Insurance was great and fixed it all up, but here's the deal - now we own a wrecked CRV that is worth exactly zero for purposes of resale or trade-in.

Here's the other face of the coin: now stuff is going wrong everywhere. This car ran for 11 years with zero issues. Since the wreck, the door locks quit working and then, as of last week, so did the AC. Given that the exhaust was directly hit, and the engine took a pretty hard jolt from that, I'm not surprised about this - but the insurance won't cover it since the car was already "fixed".

So we ended up buying a new car with no trade in. Bend over time (she got an FRS, so it wasn't as pricey as it could have been).

Do anything you can to get them to write the truck off, especially if the frame is bent. The vehicle will never be right again, and you'll know it every day you drive it.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
A guy tried to park under my 95.5 years ago doing 35 mph. This pic is after I bent the bumper back off of the rear tire so I could drive home. It was almost totaled because of the body work needed. If the frame was bent that truck was history.

You need a thorough investigation from the most reputable collision repair specialists you can find. If the frame has been compromised you don't want the truck back unless they replace the frame. The importance of an unmolested frame cannot be emphasized enough! Any time you stress or strain a compromised frame it will not behave as it should and your truck will do all sorts of screwy things; small added stresses on the suspension, driveline, body mounts, etc.

You should not wait until you feel some soreness to go to the doctor. Go get yourself checked out and have everything documented!

Its in the shop now. The guy can tell its bent but not how much until they get it on the rack. Any tips on how to try to get the insurance to total it?

My wife's Sienna got hit on May 1, and despite my best efforts, the insurance company spent $7k to repair it. It was not right when I got it back, so I took it to another shop who was a MUCH better advocate for me and my rights. Thanks to that shop, the insurance company ended up totaling it.

I would find a shop that will listen to you and that will fight for what's best for you. Make it clear to the insurance company that you will accept nothing less than what you had before the accident, and that you intend to seek diminished value if the vehicle is repaired. Be prepared for a fight, and know your rights.
