Hey guys, so this is a new one...

So this started happening a few days after I took my truck offroading(should mention that). 2006 Manual 2.7L 4x4 taco.

When I use my normal key, it wouldn't crank over right away. I would turn it on, hear a winding sound every once in a while. After holding the key in the ignition position for about 5-10 seconds. Would take a few tries to work.

I then Tried my Spare key, and it started right up the next few times. Now the same is happening with my spare, key, as I need to turn try it like 10-20 times before it starts...

One person mentioned about a ignition relay that could possibly be it. Anyone have this happen to them?

Could you describe the winding sound? Does it sound like the starter is trying to engage and turn, or is this a winding sound like something electrical in the dash or under the hood?

    lol.

the winding sounds a little from the dash. but sometimes i think it might be the starter.

It's a longer crank then normal when it does decide it wants to crank and start up.

Fuel pump? I know knocking on the gas tank with a hammer worked on Chevys.

does it crank over at normal speed when it cranks, or does it crank slower? When it does crank, does it take a long time to start, or does it start right up once the engine starts to turn over?

Sorry, but as answers come, new questions arise until I can come up with a recommendation.

OK, if you do a search for "starter problems" you should find what you are looking for. It sounds like you most likely have a problem with the internal solenoid of the starter. They can be rebuilt for not too much trouble or money, but if you don't feel like tackling it, perhaps a local TW member can be found who is willing or has done this. Other than that you would need to look at replacing the starter.
