I think I have finally narrowed down what is rattling over bumps. When I was waxing the truck today I noticed that the wheel well liner doesn't seem securely fastened to the truck bed. It uses some funky plugs with a metal collar so no way to fasten it down tighter. Anyone else have this issue or a fix or should I just deal with it rattling over every little bump? Here is a pic for reference....

Can you remove the plastic clips and install nuts and bolts?

I'm not sure, had to rush to work so I didn't really look at it too much. There is a good 1/4 inch gap between the liner and the bed so it rattles like a SOB.

Mine has had that for a long time. Rattles when I shut the doors. The nut and bolt idea seems like a good one.

I never did bolt them. They are just plastic clips holding them in place. Push them in until they click all the way down.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I've had an '06, a '13, and a '14 DC and every one of them made a noise when I closed the rear door. Other than that it caused no other annoyance and I never addressed it. I think that the '06 was far worse than the other two.

06 Tacoma owner here (Just bought it). I had same issues on both sides. Two simple aluminum rivets on each side fixed it right up!

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
I just got a bunch of sticky-backed foam (the kind they sell at Home Depot as weatherstripped for camper shells), and put it up there. All is silent now.

Though I never thought about rivets. I should take another look and see if I can pop rivet those stupid things in place.

I just noticed this the other day. 2015 still under warranty. I'll address it with the dealer.

Yes.. thanks for the help.. Just looked at it, it is the liner.. again probably the plastic quick assembly clips. In Wisconsin with all the salt on the road a AL pop rivet won't last. 2015,, v6 crew cab

Know this is an old thread (couldn't find a newer one), but my son's truck had the same rattle from the factory push pins not being tight enough.

I made some rubber washers to go between the liner and bed. Replaced the OEM push trees (on the left) with push pins.

    RWL_01.jpg

Sorry for the small pic, they came from a push pin kit I got off Amazon. Size is 20mm / 11mm / 8mm

I removed the pins from the sockets to make them go in a little easier. They're a snug fit.

Pins were a firm push to get to get in, but they're solid, and no more rattle / buzz.
