    cool

I'm going to have full access to my college welding/fabrication shop for 9hrs/week this coming term so I may try to make up a few of them in there. Another thing I want to make is a set of oversize and lockable bedside storage compartments. Stay tuned in the coming weeks if interested guys........

Very nice work. Looks like it could handle the weight and abuse of loading and unloading stuff. Keep us posted if you start selling them.

Anyone try and make one, or have one made up yet?
I'm still gonna see if I can do a run of 10 or so to sell in the coming weeks.

Great! Now if you could make a plate that makes the tailgait 1ft taller I'd be all over it like a hobo on a ham sammich.

What's the odds of having it retain the factory top black piece & how much might this cut down on the strength?

    Started mine today....
I sorta went a different route and am replacing the front piece w/ 16 gauge steel which I'll have bedlinered. Then i'll have a piece of angle iron in the top. (if there is enough space it will be welded to the front plate.) this should give it a pretty stock look.

Right now all of my cuts are done, I gave up tonight about to kill my self trying to figure out the bolt pattern... the front plate will be done tomorrow

    Hmmm...

This looks like a great idea, and evidently these gates are bending at the top rail. Mine bent at the bottom rail, and I think that will require an internal reinforcement.

I would have it Linex black; not in to the aluminum look.

Another brainstorm (if I had a brain!) idea...

For the non-shop equipped tacoma owners, use flat 1/4" Steel or Alum and a steel angle installed on the underside (internally of the factory metal) and bolted through.

Most of my scrapes are from things hanging over the gate or dragged up the gate, though.
Personally I'd prefer the wrap around style.

We'll have to see what time allows as I'm in college right now. I see that there is definitely fair a want/need for them so I doubt there would be an issue selling them, its just a lack of time to do it on my part. It's still on my agenda though so stay tuned.
