Hoping to get some advice from others running 315/75/16 on a 3" lift.

    1) Is 4" the best wheel backspace to run for 315s?

    2) Should I get 7", 8" or 8.5" wide wheels?

    3) I'm trying to go cheap on wheels.. Any input on running a cheap steel wheel? I know I'm already gonna take a MPG hit just going to 35s, so I'm not too concerned about a little additional weight also from the steel wheels.. Unless its gonna be alot harder on my drivetrain... Even harder than the 315s will be already. What do y'all think about these wheels:

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-85-6883/

They are the cheapest 4" backspace black wheel I've found so far..

    4) What alignment specs should I go for? I have LR UCAs.. Will the typical 3 caster, 0 camber & toe be okay?

    5) I understand a major CMC and trimming/ hammering will also be necessary. For those who have done all this, do you still rub when wheeling? How bad is it?

    Thanks for any help!

allpro long travel, shackle flip with ome dakars, cruisin offroad bumpers and sliders, 4.88 gears with arb's front and rear, budbuilt skids.
i have a 2 inch suspension lift and a 1 inch body lift to clear 315's only had to hammer the pinch weld flat and trim some plastic, rubs the frame at full lock on 4inch backspaced wheels but that will get solved with long travel. oh yeah and i don't rub anywhere at full stuff and lock besides the frame as mentioned earlier.

you are going to rub. my front flares constantly pop out and hang off whenever im off road. im running duratracs on wheelers type B wheels. they perform awesome. but the mileage does take a hit. more so is your power if you dont regear.

yeah my mileage took quite a hit but thats ok cause i only live 5km from work, a regear to 4.88's is in my future soon.

None yet but in the works!
I got 315x70x17 Cooper AT3s on some 17x8 Black Rock wheels with the ARB OME suspension kit and Bushwacker fenders. I have had no problems on the rear but have a little rubbing in the front. Had to grind the front brake calipers to fit the wheels and cut some fender to fit the tires.

Links to 2 said threads that discuss my 5 questions? I haven't seen anywhere that discuss wheel width, alignment specs, etc for 315s. A few threads on CMC? sure.

Yes sir, I've already read through all 8 pages before making this thread. A lot of good info. Now looking for answers to my specific questions in OP.

Maxamollion- please provide links to the at least two threads that address backspace, wheel width, alignment specs and Summit steel wheels with 315s. K thanks.

1: Best is a relative term, the best for you isn't the best for someone else, but from what I've read (and I've read a lot b/c I am going to run 35s at one point) anywhere between 3.75" - 4.5" BS should be fine.

2: The width would depend on what tires you are going to run, some manufacturers recommend a certain width for their particular tire, since you didn't put what tires you wanted to run I'd say go with a 7.5" or an 8" wide wheel.

3:I can almost guarantee you those steel wheels will not work. Hardly any steel 16" wheels work with our brake calipers, see this response in this thread:
Now these are 17" steelies, and you want to run 16s, I could only imagine it would be worse.

    4: Caster 2.5-3, camber 0, toe 0

5: Chop, beat, pound, cut.. insert obligatory adjective to meet your wheeling requirements. Noford08 is running LT rear and rubs bad.

Thank you Large. Will keep y'all updated. I'm probably gonna go with Hankook MT or Fierce attitudes. Would love to stay with KM2s, but they're quite a bit more expensive in the 315 variety.

    Those are all basic questions

    4.0

    8"

wheelers type B (probably the same more expensive version of the summit wheels listed but no one is going to fucking know for sure)

as much caster as you can get out of the LCA and then make any final adjustments with the UCA, I'd also avoid adding too much caster up top

    but uhh here
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/164267-will-315-75r16-tire-fit-my-3-lift-2.html

and then that links to here plus the thread posted, which if you read through builds yields all sorts of info

    and

Max - What did you use to "weld" the flare together? Epoxy?
