The better winter tire is....

Between the Michelin LTX AT2 and the Firestone Destination AT2?

Had the LTX MS2 and wasn't overly impressed with their winter performance. I was considering General Grabber AT2 but from previous experience found them loud and heavy.

Winter here consists of rain, lots of slush, and some hardpack. Sometimes even on the same day....

 

I have the the Michelin AT2's and really like them, very quiet and smooth riding. I also had the MS2's before and they are great high mileage tire but i like the looks of the AT2 better.

 

Michelin LTX MS2 would be the better winter option.

 

Duratracs.

 

Yes Duratracs have the mountain snowflake symbol on them and are rated as a true winter tire so they will have far better traction in snow and ice.

 

BFG A/T's are also snow rated.

 

I think duratracs have a different rating than the bfg at. I think bfg are just mud and snow rated.

 

Mountain Snowflake symbol is easy to attain. The tire just has to get 10% better traction than a "standard" all-season ASTM test tire on snow. Most AT tires can probably pass the test if the tire mfr chose to submit the tire for testing.

 

Duratracs FTW.

I was driving up 10-15 degree hills in the snow with a trailer last winter no problem. And 2' to 3' snow banks.

 

Go with the Nokian Rotiiva, I promise you will love it!

Seriously? I grow up in B.C. So trust me I've driven real snow. BC gets wet sloppy snow....Alberta gets shit loads of dry snow.

I drive back all winter too see my family driving the kicking horse and these tires get this BC boy's approval!

If you don't believe me BC Ambulance service and RCMP are switching their fleets to this tire....it's amazing!

 

Yes, my mom runs the Hakkapeleta(sp?) on her G37 and loves them. They are amazing winter tires.

 

I believe you I was just messing around and your right about the wet sloppy snow it's shitty haah. Your gunna need a bigger lift if Calgary gets another one of those floods were you hit hard?
