Be careful not to overfill the tank. I had overfilled my 03 Taco and gas ended up in the charcoal canister which cost me $600 to replace.

Thanks Rich91710: So I'm getting slightly better mileage than the odometer shows (I do have the TRD)...That's good to know.

Pity about the air filter; some folks seem to swear by it. Nonetheless, I'm dropping it in...

This site is really helpful...much respect.

So you are saying you managed to fit 20.9 gallons into a tank that holds 21.1 gallons? You sure you didn't leave a puddle of gas on the ground when you drove away?

Hope you're joking and not serious, I'm not a straight edge no drugs ever guy but I sure as hell wouldn't drive high.

I had the same problem as you with the incredibly low gas mileage. Does your truck make a slight clunk when leaving a stop sign or stop light. Can you never quite stop smoothly where it feels like you are pushing the brake pedal all the way in, right at the last moment. Just enough to make everybody's head nod forward. If so, it might be a bad valve body in the tranny. These were my symptoms along with the horrible gas mileage. Once it was replaced, I went from about 210 to getting about 350 to a tank. Good luck.

In California the nozzle is sort of encased in a flexible looking plastic to suck vapors that would otherwise escape into the air. I've had the pump not kick off and it just kept pumping away. Once I let it run till 40 gallons so I would be able to convince the station the nozzle was defective and not have to pay for extra gas I didn't get.
Most I ever put in that tank was 20 gallons. They got down on the ground to make sure it wasn't a 40 gallon tank then adjusted the price.

Thanks atcmisfit2000...I don't have all the symptoms you mentioned...but sometimes, shifting from R to D the tranny will hesitate...then *clunk* into gear. Bad valve body, eh? Could you tell me ballpark what kind of cost I might be looking at to fix the
    problem?

    Appreciate the input, seriously...

edit: found the valve body parts: only $700...plus labor. whoo boy... I'm wondering if the dealer can diagnose this problem; looks like the cost will be significant...if I spent the coin and nothing changed: I would be...really sad.

To be honest, I don't how much much it cost. This was covered under warranty at 1023 miles. They had to confer with corporate on the issue and were ordered to complete some tests and ultimately replace the valve body. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I get better mileage when I only put half a tank vs filling it full. I can get 200-220 miles on that half a tank. nit sure if its a weight issue or what?

I just got 380 miles out of a tank and when I filled up it took 19.8 gallons so I still had about 1.3 gallons left in the tank, so I prolly could've got to 400 miles.

2013 TRD Sport V6 - just back from a LONG road trip. Average was 20.23 mpg - which I'm very pleased with. Normal driving, frequent AC and quite a few hills. 87 octane only.

One can never have too many light bars.
91 octane should get you about 5-10 more miles per tank but that fuel mileage is ridiculously low. Driving in SF will kill mileage but you may be driving it like you stole it.

It's an illusion. Your gas gauge may show half but its more than that. The fuel sender isn't that exact and moves down in stages, it's not on the money accurate. You're probably filling up to where it shows halfway but in reality it's closer to 5/8ths of a tank. Just like when you fill it up all the way it won't move any lower than full for about 3 Gallons even though less is in the tank.

I am having the same mpg issues with my truck and before I buy new tires I am determined to see if there is anything I can do besides changing my rollers to something else. I am contemplating re-gear if nothing.
I've got an '08 DBLC 4X4. 3" suspension lift rolling on some 33/12.5/18's. I get no more than 250 freeway. It's really quite annoying to pay so much money on gas to go camping honestly. I like my setup, but am starting to worry everytime I have to drive it. Maybe switching out the stock gears will work?

370 miles before the gas light turned on. Changed the plugs a week ago, cleaned the k&n air filter, checked air pressure on tires and off on my road trip this past weekend. I'd say this is the best tank/mpg ever!!!
