I have read that 2-3 cans should work. I'm about to find out myself.
Ebay has a 12 pack for $80. I have 4 vehicles to deal with and this 12 pack is a good deal. Not looking forward to winter:mad:

I just ordered 2 cans from Amazon today. I have never done this before but its just point and shoot right? Do I coat the whole frame? or just where rust are present?

What do you coat the frame with? I live in the snow belt and am very interested!

Fluid Film in a spray can, that's the brand name of the spray.

Do you wrap your exhaust pipes with paper to keep the FF off? I've heard that it stinks badly as it burns off. Planning to get some within the next month or so. Speaking of which, what month do you personally apply it, so that it lasts through the winter?

Yeah I do mine in the fall. I just pressure washed the frame yesterday to get the dirt off, the frame was black under all the dirt so I tried the finger test and yes there was still FF under the dirt and on the frame. The dirt does not bother me if it did I would have a full time job keeping the frame clean we have a LOT of dirt roads in Maine. After you do the frame it instantly becomes covered with dirt the FF never dries but it makes no difference in the protection of the metal. I decided on the electric paint gun because it needs no compressor all though I have one the electric gun is a good bit easier to use. A standard paint gun will not work it has to be high pressure. I can say it is a messy job you'll want to be covered and so does your floor a respirator is a good ideal too I just don't think breathing any thing other then air is a good thing.

Took me 3 cans of FF to coat the underside of my truck. I also sprayed 1 full can in the rocker panels and 1 full can in the bottoms of the doors for a double cab.

FYI - You guys should be coating in the spring as well as in the fall. Most professional oil spray companies recommend doing it in the spring not the fall for their once a year treatments, as the warm humidity can be worse for rust than the winter salt.

I spray my truck in early spring and just touch it up in the fall. When the winter salt hits, I start washing the undercarriage frequently and then re-apply fluid film in the early spring.

Do you guys just crawl under your truck and spray everything or do you use lifts or jack the truck up? I am thinking of doing this to my truck real soon and I don't have a lift. Also does the stuff get all over your driveway?
