Question about rear wheels

    I have a very random question. On thursday nights i always run up to the local dragstrip. Every once in awhile, a mid size truck will come thru and ill run my truck down the dragstrip beside em (legal of course). And as lots of people know, before people run, theyll burn their back tires so theyll catch traction when they take off. Well, only my passenger rear tire spins, not both. I was wondering what causes this and what i can do to make them both spin. Thanks.

    Are you turning off the traction control and the "auto LSD". Wait! Does your year have those? I am not sure?

    I turn off traction control but the auto LSD stays lit on the dash until i hit 35 mph.

    Turn off traction control and all aids I'm guessing the trac senses the wheel is slipping so it puts all power to that wheel.

    Is there any way to make it to where both wheels will spin and keep spinning until i stop?

    Basically you have a open rear differential. The computer will apply the brake to the spinning wheel in order to send power to the wheel with traction. It's not a true limited slip. Toyota calls it auto lsd. If you turn off your traction control. You are disabling it an will spin one wheel.

    The best way around this is to launch in 4wd hi

    ^^^DO NOT DO THIS! Don't do anything on pavement with 4x4 engaged.

    And im asking how to make both back wheels spin at once...4x4 is definitely not going to make them do that.

    It does that because you have an open Deferential or if you have positive traction it is worn out.
    As to what to do the best thing is you can change the diff to a positive traction. There are several other things that can be done, but I do not recommend them if you want to keep this a daily driver. I would add that changing to a positive traction will cause faster tire wear even without using the truck at the drag strip.

    Icon MT suspension, Pelfreybuilt front bumper, Relentless skids, Avid sliders, Avid custom rack. Pelfreybilt HC Rear bumper.
    Best way is to install an ARB locker, but this is about $900 plus labor.

    If you are not familiar with doing this I suggest using a mechanic. Or I suggest that you Google some videos on replacing differentials or installing positive traction if you really want to tackle it yourself. There is a lot to learn about this.

    They are not really for drag racing.

    The only other way is to install a true limited slip like a auburn lsd or a locker. Both are very expensive options. I would just launch in 4wd hi on the occasions that you run it down the strip.
