    Hi Guys,

I'm taking my truck to the dealer tomorrow. My rear leaf springs are squeeky and I've heard of dealers doing things to rig the springs to not make noise, but on a warrentee'd truck, I would like springs that don't squeek when I'm walking in the bed of the truck.

What words should I use to get them to do the TSB or to replace the rear leaf springs?

I'm definitely going to tell them that their squeeking, I've also heard to say that I feel vibrations from the back of the truck ( which I have briefly felt recently ).

    Thanks for any tips!

    Jack

Just have to say you "have a harsh and rough ride while towing and when the bed has weight in it say it bottoms out over small bumps and passengers complain. If they ask you what you tow just say something like a loaded uhaul trailer or something.

If they don't give you the TSB spring, I may be selling mine :spy:

There is a squeaky leaf spring TSB that replaces the sound isolator pads with newer , thicker versions , you don't need to replace the leaf packs

so the leafs already have "sound isolator pads"? Because I'd heard about this, but it sounded like it was something that Toyota rigged to fix the squeak.

Should I try to get the TSB leaf packs? Will it benefit the truck mechanically? I often have the truck loaded to max.

Yes there are sound isolator pads , the newer version are just thicker

The TSB springs suck too if you ask me , but if you can get them for free it's better than the 3 leaf pack

IMO, get the TSB leafs, tell the service people that you have a harsh ride with a quad or motorcycle (or 2 cycles) in the bed, and that should do the trick.

This would not be a lie either, I have noticed a harsh ride when I have my 2 motorcycles in the bed. I'll tell them this.

Does anyone know if there is a lift with the TSB springs and how high that lift would be?

1" over US stock 3 leaf pack height ( prior to any settling )

this, if you want to level your truck then get some Billies and set them to 1.75''.
But since you haul a lot i'd set them to .75, as the springs will sag over time, and you don't want to be to "bro" leaned with a heavy load.

    .85

Or just say fuck the shitty Toyota leaf springs and get something half decent like the Wheelers HD leaf packs

I don't have any lift in the front... wondering if this will look too off kilter....

I'd like to get 5100's up front, but don't exactly want to spend the money..

Assuming I do go with 5100's, if they are set at 1.75" will this be level and will 2.5" be slightly nose high? I'd like the front to sit a little higher than the back.

Will my 32" tires look small with such a lift?

    Edit
    _________
you guys were fast with the 5100's..

I don't exactly haul a lot, but I do have my dirt bikes and camping gear loaded in the truck pretty often and I use it for other things like that.

I don't think I'd mind the harder ride from the 5100's at 2.5" – I'd like the front to be a little stiffer than it is already. Just personal preference for driving on twisty roads.

OZ, ever heard of anyone getting the TSB after the warranty has expired?? How about a Canadian truck??? I've yet to hear of a Canadian truck getting it done.... and my rear springs are sagging 3" from stock....

I doubt they'd do anything after the warranty was over?

Don't quote me on this, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I think I saw that Canadian trucks came with the TSB already done... Not sure though.

Really? Sagging 3" from stock? That's crazy!

Any thoughts on 5100's set at 2.5 on a truck with the TSB in the rear and 32" tires?

I would set the 5100's at .85 or 1.75 with just the TSB springs in the rear

    1.75 = level correct?

Why not go 2.5" if I like the pre-runner stance and don't mind a slightly rougher ride?

When you tow/ have the bed loaded down the truck will be very nose high.
That's my reasoning for not going 2.5''

    hmmmmm... time to ponder

I don't mind the nose high look.

And even though I do commonly use my truck to its payload potential, the vast majority of the time, the bed is empty.

I guess I should stick a jack under my truck and lift it to 1.75 and then 2.5 and see what I like.

Will 5100's work with stock springs up front???]
