    I would disagree on the basis that "rims" is considered slang. No reputable company selling wheels and tires has a section labeled "rims" It is always divided up into sections labeled "wheels" and "tires". Really not a big deal either way. Regional dialects differ as well as the age of the speaker.

    We all know its wheels. You can look on any tire site and they list them as wheels not rims.

    But for the others here is your definition of rim.


    The rim is the "outer edge of a wheel, holding the tire". It makes up the outer circular design of the wheel on which the inside edge of the tire is mounted on vehicles such as automobiles. Wikipedia
