I have the 2005 4 door v6 Tacoma. I just installed ome lift kit and 33 inch mud terrain tires Love the setup and didn't loose too much road power but when I went offroading today the truck seemed to bog alot in 4 wheel drive and there was some barely steep hill climbs I had to give up and back down, the truck bogged down and stalled in first then I couldn't even take off again just kept bogging and stalling. These hillclimbs reslly werebt that bad either . I didn't think the v6 would get hurt this bad by 33s but it did. Was wondering if there was any suggestions to help this I am going to get intake , header, y pipe , exhaust, and lightweight pulley kit All with the urd maf sensor tuned. I know ill gain power but I believe I need low end wich I will not gain from any of these . Any suggestions would be great thanks

regearing will help you far more than any of the stuff you listed. and just to make sure, were you in 4lo when you were out wheeling?

    what tires are you running?

if you want low end power back then re gearing would be your best bet. and probably be about the same price as all that other stuff..

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
do you have a manual or auto trans?

could regear, i think that usually the best thing that has been one. i have read it’s not really a problem with just having 33” more so with 35”, but some people still regear with 33”.

IMHO i’d regear before i got an intake, headers, y pipe and exhaust.

I am running the 33" toyo M/Ts and didn't feel like I lost that much power?

I suggest regearing, maybe 4:56? I'm going to be installing 35" tires soon and it will be a month or so until I am going to be able to regear to 4:88. Curious how much power the 35's will rob with the stock gearing?

Wondering that myself. I just went wheeling last week, I'm on 33's with a 6" lift. I went up some pretty steep inclines/declines and didn't have any problems with lack of power.

It's a standard and I was in 4 hi. Like I said not too much power loss anywhere else besides bottom of my low end. If I could hit hill hard I'd power through it easy but it was a hill I had to ease from end on to the take off and it just didn't have enough go. I really don't want to re gear because other than that powers good. But until I get over 2.2k rpm it bogs and its hard to take off on the hill and be near the 2.2k mark I know ill prolly loose the low end part I need with exhaust setup so I don't know what to do. Only thing that will help me in that range is the pulleys. And the the few mud holes that I eased into if the rpm"s dropped below 2.2k rpm then it just died there. I kept having to rev sh** out of it then let out clutch which isn't healthy either.

4 lo is your friend. even regeared guys use 4 low, especially when climbing. not to insult your intellegence if you already know this, but you can use 4 lo with in all of your gears, so you're not really limiting your speed (within reason) by using lo.

One other thing too since these tires and lift installed on the street it doesn't like to be lugged anymore. Like in third gear at 30mph in town and around 2k rpm, when I hit the throttle it takes a second or two to kick in then takes off with a slight kick feel, but in 2nd gear at 30 and rpm above 3k it's fine Any clues on that Also since the lift was installed the steering wheel vibrates at 40-55mph and the steering wheel wants to pull me around left and right like I have to fight it sometimes. But I figured I just need alignment , wich ill do Friday since I installed lift 2 days ago

No insult taken lol. I'm by far not the most knowledgable about trucks. Just decent skills when mechanical things come into play, but still have alot to learn. I didn't think you could go over 10mph in 4 low. Thanks ill try it next time

that's about right in 1st gear since you'll be bouncing off the rev limiter, but you can shift through your gears safely in 4lo just as if it were 4hi or 2hi.

at idle rpm and off roading rpm.s, nothing will give you bottom end torque. regear if you want any performance gain.

4lo will make you and your truck happy.

vibration is from front diff, driver side bearing and or drive-shaft. heres how I fixed the diff bearing http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-8536125-toyota-8-clamshell-bushing.html

wandering front end is from bad alignment. take it to a shop. if they cant get caster in spec, you need upper control arms designed to be run with lift.

as stated, I have only found 4hi to be useful in soft sand. any steep climbs or rough terrain and my truck drops to 4lo. I guess 4hi could be useful in snowy, on-road conditions
