I know there have been lots of posts on this topic. I have diagnosed the cats are bad on both sides due to the readings my HO2 sensors are giving me. The drivers side sensor just reads a little more responsive so its only tripping one code rather then two. (P0430 and P0420). Any ideas on cheaper cats then the dealers? They want $1500 a cat... :(

you might be able to get 1 for free. Same thing happen to me and I took the cat out , soak it in dish soap & water over night. over 10k now and no emission codes yet. Cost? 3 oz of soap and $12 gasket.

Interesting! How hard is it to take them out? I've been thinking something like that might help me since the code comes one between 20 minutes after clearing it, and a week after clearing it.

I would ignore it, but the exhaust tone is different so I'm thinking the cat is a little clogged.

Subaru had cat issues a while back and they actually had techs removing cats and filling them with orange juice overnight. A buddy of mine is a Subaru tech and couldn't believe it actually worked.

Cool. Thanks guys. Simple enough to try. Looks like I'll be crawling under the truck on saturday. Hope the $*#($*& bolts aren't too rusted!
