My truck beeps and honks. I can't get either to turn off using this method.

First post and thought I might try to provide an answer to this one. Worked on my 2013 Limited...

If you have the Keyless Security Upgrade, then you will have a small red button to the left of the steering column near the factory buttons. This is the valet button for the security system. To turn off the horn beep, get in the truck, close the door, turn the ignition to the on position then off once, then push the red button in and out three times. You will receive a confirmation beep. Now, when you unlock or lock the doors with the remote, the horn will not sound along with the regular beeps.

    Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to necro-post, but I'm trying to eliminate the little beep that the truck emits when I lock and unlock the doors with the remote. In this case, my truck is a 2014, and all it emits is the electronic beep. There's no horn sound with it.

According to the manual, I can take it to a dealer and have their "specially trained technicians" perform some magic to stop the beeps. I assume it's just a series of steps that any end user can do. But those steps are not the ones listed in the OP, unfortunately.

Does anyone know what I'd need to do with a 2014 to stop the lock/unlock beeps?

    Thanks!

I took mine in for the horn one and they did it right in the service drive with no paperwork involved (about 5-10 minutes at most). the beep one, just follow the above steps.

It appears as though Toyota changed ... something ... with the 2014 Tacos. The steps above have no effect.

Don't know if my 2010 DCSB has the security upgrade but it does have a button (not red) mounted on the steering column down low. I tried the method posted by geocd and it got rid of the horn honk. I still have the beep and that's ok with me.

Thanks so much. I hated the horn honk and the fact that the neighborhood always knew when I was coming or going.

Your car horn honks?! Mine does a beeping sound... Kinda girly if you ask me. Can I make the horn honk when I lock or unlock?

Just worked perfectly fine on my 2014. Insert key, remove key, reinsert key and turned "on" position. Wait for beeping to stop and the fasten seatbelt light to stop blinking in the gauge cluster, then press the lock button twice but not in super fast succession. You will then hear the confirmation beep, and will have no more beep when locking the doors but the lights will still blink

just to clarify also, make sure the key is in the "on" position without the engine running, not the "ACC" position

That's what I was doing wrong: pushing the fob button too quickly. Thanks! All set on my '14!

I've got the factory keyless that beeps. And a viper alarm that honks. I wish I could get the viper to beep instead of honk but not luck

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't find anything in the el manual. My salesman and the two mechanics there the night I bought it. Couldn't turn it off. I hate those assholes that beep their car locks four times. Every time the get out of the car. That was cool back in the 80s when your were showing off your fancy alarm. But now you just look like a deuce bag
