That's it! The brown looking area in the right that is also a silver painted gasket. That's the area that has come away from the body.

That's not a gasket. That is sealant.
I'm not sure if Toyota uses adhesive to attach the hinge to the body or if it is welded, but I suspect it is attached with adhesive and it has been compromised.

Hmm..the door doesn't jiggle, but it now swings a tiny bit farther. I wonder what product I could spray in there to hold and seal? I think taking the hinge or door off would be hard.

    This.

Many body panels are bonded, rather than welded or bolted. The adhesive is VERY strong, but if it starts to let go, it needs to be repaired by a pro.
The adhesive, where it squeezes out, appears to be nothing more than a filler.

And this reinforces my "cringe factor" when it's windier than expected and the door gets yanked out of my hand when opening it.

Last time that happened, the door was prevented from overextending.... by my wife's fender

No, The door hinges are not glued on. There are bolts that hold the hinge to the body and also the door. There is a sealant in between the door hinge and the body, but The bolts are what holds it together. The sealant is just to prevent moisture from collecting in the seam.

    Go look.
