I'm averaging over 30 mpg on my 5-lug over 75K. Drove from Boulder to Longmont 20 miles then from Boulder to Denver and back with no issues today after 3-6 inches snow. Averaged 33 mpg doing it.

Not saying 2wd are superior than 4wd but I haven't need it in 25 years of driving 2wd trucks in IA and CO, and never needed 4wd in 7 years of driving rear wheel cars in WI before that.

Wanting and needing 4wd are 2 different things.

There's no way I could live with 2WD. A prerunner with chains, ok, that would work. Ground clearance and chains works ok. I prefer a 4WD so I don't have to use chains.

Well, you're a badass I guess. There's been quite a few times there's no way I could have got out of my driveway without 4WD. Or chains on a prerunner. I've had to bust out of 36" and 48" blizzards. I had to bang into drifts, back up, then bang into them again over and over to make it to a plowed road. No way you do that with just plain 2WD. 2WD with chains and a high clearance vehicle, yeah it can be done.

Boulder is the high spot, Longmont is 5000, Boulder 5430, Denver 5280. I'm downhill going out, up coming back.

I don't have to leave the house in 36-48" blizzards, like almost everyone else. My street isn't plowed I have 2 blocks to get to a plowed main road, and haven't had trouble getting there, and it's uphill even.

I don't even think you could pound through 4' of the heavy wet snow we get here , not without serious body damage

Its a perfect analogy if you thought about it. Drive wheel traction is rather important in many driving conditions. Newsflash for you I guess. And who said stopping distances?

To be honest, I rarely need to kick into 4WD, it's just nice to know you have the option if shit hits the fan lol

So much envy in the world. My foolish friend secretly envies my button.. (Switch really.. Although its so seldom used) I envy the Trd offroads with their ATRAC.. And we all envy those few with the true locked front and rear. The REAL 4x4's.. Maybe one day we can at least all agree on the actual pecking order without animosity. Maybe not..
