Can the bed be removed simply by removing the large bolts in the bed bottom? Need to see how much space I will have when bed is removed. Do not use compartments in rear and would rather have the additional volume in bed. Are there any other issues I need to consider when taking the old liner out?

The so called "bedliner" you are referring to is the actual bed. Ours is a composite bed and removing it will leave you bedless unless I'm wrong on the '13 models.

Exactly what Wattapunk said. You would have no bed and nothing to attach your bedsides to. Unless you plan on making a whole new bed to replace your composite bed...

As the others have said, you are looking at the bed itself and not A "liner". Also, good luck on finding a spray in liner that works on the composite bed. Everywhere I inquired I was told the same thing. The spray in material won't reliably stick to the composite and they won't warranty the work.

Yep, what evryone else said. Just do it yourself and roll it on. A lot cheaper that way.

I guess I won't be doing a spray in. Interesting that I did not know that. Aaaronbuell, I have owned a 94 small body and an 05 Tundra and did not know that they had changed. However, looking at the bed I thought it looked different and wanted to check it out here. I wondered if they might have changed to a different system but to some folks that is a minor point to check out. Life is short and when you have a lot of interests, the bed is indeed a minor issue. I do thank everyone for getting back with me.

The composite bed is tough as nails and I doubt you will find any spray or roll on bedliner that will adhere to it long term, especially if you actually use the bed. Besides, it would be too painful to try to scuff up a brand new bed just to bedline it to make it look the same.

    Hey Chuck, :)

I was also surprised when I went from a 1996 Taco to a 2012 and discovered the all plastic bed with those non removable space robbing side compartments. So I just had to get used to it.

+1 on a bed mat. They work great to keep stuff from sliding around on the slick plastic floor.

You mean like in this thread? http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/291589-how-does-come-off.html

Not all of us know everything about everything we own. That's why we come here, to learn.

But since it appears you are one of the few that know so much, why are you a member here? Certainly not to educate others since your post was not relevant to his question. I wish I was as knowing as you are. You are lucky.

OP, the bed indeed is a solid piece. If you crawl under the truck and look up, you will see the black composite. I use a rubber bed mat to keep things from sliding around. And don't worry, they won't blow out of the bed, they are pretty weighty.

Line-x will spray them, and anything is better than shit sliding all over the bed like it does in my dads 09'. We also thought about just spraying the panels themselves, like strips instead of doing the whole bed.

There is a big difference in knowing that your bed is made of composite versus learning to take certain pieces apart...two totally different things. The composite bed is on the same list as ATRAC, TRAC, VSC, all the electronic stuff, headunit without entune/or with entune, 4x4 features, as in basic features you should research before jumping into a purchase.

Not nagging on the OP, but I am stating a life fact. Research before jumping on in. It is not the first time someone didn't know the bed was composite, maybe the dealers should explain that before snagging someone into a sale.
