    she's all stock
for Cdn and Northern drivers with snow etc.

so i have a 2005 prerrunner 2wd double cab, auto. 6cyl. and run with 250 lbs of sand socks in the winter.
    245/75r/16's

currently running Dunlop RVXT's year round and really liked them. they no longer make them

restricted to buying at Canadian Tire as i have their points card and have enough points to cover over 1/2 my tire cost.

so it's a toss up between the Goodyear Territory's/Duractrac and the General Grabber AT2s

whats everyone's experience with these 2 tires. gonna run them year round.

Don't know if you can get them up there (or want them) but these are the tires I run on my PreRunner. I have taken them to Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota twice with no issues at all getting around. It snowed every day I was in Colorado back in March and no problems. I also have a set of Thule Traction Cables just in case. I will warn you though, since they are a mud terrain tire they howl like crazy.

I have bought some Grabber AT2's at Canadian Tire LT265/75/16, real quiet, so far no problems, great price too

I had the Grabber AT2s on my Outback, and they were pretty awful on ice. I don't know about the Duratrac, but it can't be much worse than the Grabbers.

I haven't had a winter season yet (I'm sure it will be here any day), but from reviews (here on TW and elsewhere on the internets) I read they work great in the snow. They have the Snow Peak Rated "Mountain/ snow flake" symbol, but beware not all sizes of this tire have it. I can confirm that the LT265/75/16 size does have the rating.

I cant speak from experience with this tire, but not many tires work great on Ice, its all relative.

Also depends on your driving style, dont be one of those yahoo's who think they can drive in winter conditions like its bare pavement just because you have winter tires. First snow every year there is always a massive pile up because of this (at least in Calgary, a city that has winter for 8 months of the year...)

This. But you pay $$ for it, especially at Canadian tire

Right, well he wanted to know how they did in winter conditions in comparison to other tires, and as someone who drives all winter long across the northern tier of MT and ND, I probably have a pretty good perspective on the road conditions he's likely to encounter.

I ran about 5 different sets of tires on my Outback during winter time over the years, including a couple of all-seasons and 2 different AT tires (Yokohama Geolander AT-S) and a set of dedicated snow tires. None of them could touch the Toyo Observe studless snows, but of all the other all-seasons and ATs, the Grabbers were the worst. If I had to put numbers to it, on a scale of 1-10, the Toyos were a 9, the Yokohamas were a 6.5, the All Seasons were a 5 and the Grabbers were a 4.

Just merely pointing out my experience so far with them, he can take it for what its worth. I was in the same position as him when buying these, and intend on using them just like he intends to.

I understand. The one thing I can say is they did do well in deep snow, but I found that the vast majority of the miles I put on were on slick roads, more than snowy.

Having grown up and learned to drive in FL, where snow is a foreign concept, I wanted all the help I could get, so I have always run dedicated winter tires since I moved out west. But I see tons of people that a perfectly happy with their ATs.

I had BFGoodrich Rugged terrains on my 2012 and they were loud and cupped up. Just put Michelin LTX M/S2 on it the other day and You wouldn't believe the ride now. can't hear a thing except air blowing by the windows. I would recommend them.. X 10.. Pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Most people I've found prefer the Duractracs. I had bought the AT2's just before winter last year, never had any issues. I don't run my winter tires all year around. I got them on sale from CT so it was worth it for me. Either way, I don't think that you can go wrong with either of the tires you're asking about.

I don't know how are the winter there but here in Québec city with at leat 400 cm of snow, dedicated winter tires is mandatory. Not only cause of the snow but mostly cause of the low temperature. Even on pavement at -7 dec., a 4 seasons tire is losing capacity.

One of my friend with a 4x4 who was only running AT tires during completely change of opinion after trying my truck.

A good one in 265 is the Yokohama IHT20 ice but sould be at least a 265 to get more room in the thread.

I'm getting the Duratrac at the end of the month, I waiting to see if I can get a rebate, the new rebate form comes out oct 1st. I've read all 80 pages of the Duratrac thread lol, I was going to get winter tires but these tires seem to be the way to go, another set of rims and tmps sensors seam to be too much $$$ for what its worth.

I love my goodyear Walmarts (wrangler authority) in the snow. they school most m/t tires, and do much better than the bfg a/ts I once had. it is a cheaper duratrac in my opinion. iv had mine for a year and a half or so and they are wearing nicely, if at all

no that I have to commute in the snow, but I enjoy playing in it, and this tire makes it very easy to navigate.

the nitto terra-grapler works surprisingly good too. if they have it there, consider it at least. my brother had them on his 05 from brand new to 40k miles, but they were considerably wide at 285, not sure if that affects wear and/or "snowbility". . . . see what I did there

Canadian tire also has the gooyear wrangler territory that is based on the duratrac from what I read, they also had good reviews. They were 25% off few weeks ago, but I like the look of the duratrac more!
